Romans 5:12

12 Wherefore [dia] [touto], as [hosper] by [dia] one [heis] man [anthropos] sin [hamartia] entered [eiserchomai] into [eis] the world [kosmos], and [kai] death [thanatos] by [dia] sin [hamartia]; and [kai] so [houto] death [thanatos] passed [dierchomai] upon [eis] all [pas] men [anthropos], for [epi] that [hos] all [pas] have sinned [hamartano]:   KJV-Interlinear

12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—    ESV

Paul introduces in this passage a great contrast, which is a problem and a solution. For those who actually read the studies, this verse and the verses following, will reveal some tremendous principles connected to the spiritual life and to human history.

By one man, namely Adam, sin entered the human race, and because of sin spiritual death was introduced by the sin as well as physical death which became a result of the sin. The Bible says dying thou shalt die, and that incorporates both spiritual death and physical death which have become a part of every human beings existence.

The next principle is that sin is introduced into the human race by means of Adam, not Eve, therefore sin is passed down to the human race from generation to generation through the male, not the female.

Adam was created in sinless perfection. Jesus came into the world by means of the virgin pregnancy of Mary, wherein there was no male role in that pregnancy. Jesus was born with sinless perfection. Therefore both Adam and Jesus began their lives without sin.

Adam of course failed, however Jesus did not fail.

By one man, Adam, the human race in its entirety was separated from God, and in effect destroyed.

By one man, Jesus, the human race in its entirety received the mechanism for restoration and reconciliation with God, and in effect have the opportunity for eternal life.

When each individual is born into this world they have two strikes against them. The first is the genetic sin nature which is passed down from Adam, therefore every individual is born spiritually dead, though physically alive.

And the second strike, comes when each individual actually commits a sin during their life, proving that no human being is capable of living a sin free life, and that it is always a matter of choice, which people choose.

We all received the sin nature, and in that, we had no choice. We were born with it. But during our life we all have volition and the opportunity to choose and make decisions for right and for wrong. And in that regard we have no excuse because everyone chooses for wrong sooner or later in their life. And not only choose but repeatedly choose for wrong throughout ones individual life.

When a baby or young person, or even someone severely handicapped in some way, die prior to reaching an age or point of accountability, which is the point in which they know what they are doing and yet do it anyway, then those persons when they die are automatically saved. They were born with the sin nature and as such are spiritually dead, but without any concept of right and wrong, or any opportunity to know the difference, and are taken out of this world, and because Christ has already died for their sins, which includes the nature of their sin nature within them, then God rightfully so can bring them directly to heaven.

This principle is taught in the study of the death of David’s first child.

Eve, in the garden, did not pay attention to the teaching of Christ, as he walked in the garden with both Adam and Eve. That left the door wide open for Satan to disguise himself by indwelling the servant, and engaging in a conversation with Eve, which she did not pick up on. Eve was deceived, and her error came through that deception even though she knew full well the command that God had made.

Eve did not listen, because she rejected Christ’s authority, and as a result placed women under authority through all of human history. However blessing was bestowed upon Eve by allowing the Savior to be born into the world by means of the woman. And by the same principle, those who die under the age or point of accountability are automatically saved.

Therefore, by one man, Adam, all are condemned.

By one woman all who die prior to accountability, are saved.

And by one man, Christ, the entire human race is delivered.
