Isaiah
30:13
13 Therefore this iniquity [`avon] shall be to you as a breach [perets] ready to fall [naphal],
swelling out [ba`ah] in a high [sagab] wall [chowmah], whose
breaking [sheber] cometh [bow'] suddenly [pith'owm] at an
instant [petha`]. KJV-Interlinear
13 therefore this iniquity shall be to you like
a breach in a high wall, bulging out, and about to collapse, whose breaking
comes suddenly, in an instant; ESV
The subject deals
with man trusting in mans own plan, rather than God’s plan. Judah has looked to
Egypt for their protection and security against the Assyrians. They have
ignored Isaiah’s words and warnings, which come directly from God.
They have drifted
away from the study of, and the teaching of, the Scriptures.
They have looked
to their own opinions, and their own wisdom, and have decided that Egypt, the
land of sin and apostasy and pretense, is far better than the holy one, who is
Jesus Christ, and who is the one and only source of their continued existence.
And so Isaiah
compares them to the construction of a high wall.
The wall is
constructed higher and higher. The construction is weak and faulty lacking
support and cohesiveness. And eventually, under its own weight of flaws, it
begins bulging bit by bit, more and more. Its weakness and bulging, grow over
an extended period of time, and is seen by all, but ignored.
And then suddenly
the weight of its flaws become too much, and in an instant the wall comes
crashing down, crushing everyone.
Such is the life
of those who do not take Bible doctrine seriously.
And unfortunately,
this is an all too common story.
People see and
know about Bible doctrine, and its importance. People see and know about life
around them, and its insignificance.
However, the life
around people is filled with enticements and persuasions, such that its
beckoning becomes too much as they listen to its songs, and follow it throughout
their life.
And just as a wall
crashes, so their life crashes. The crash could be an accident, or some
incident, or the very end of their life.
In the aftermath,
though everyone knows there is a possible aftermath, is ignored, and becomes a
shock when it strikes.
Everyone has a
choice. Everyone has an opportunity for Bible doctrine on a daily basis. And
everyone holds, in the decisions of their own soul, the quality and direction of
their own destiny.
Choose for
doctrine, and your destiny is phenomenal.
Ignore a daily
study of Bible doctrine, and your destiny will be a crashing wall.
These
studies are a part of the massive daily study web site at DailyBibeStudy.Org,
