Isaiah 30:10

10 Which say ['amar] to the seers [ra'ah], See [ra'ah] not; and to the prophets [chozeh], Prophesy [chazah] not unto us right things [n@kochah], speak [dabar] unto us smooth things [chelqah], prophesy [chazah] deceits [mahathallah]:   KJV-Interlinear

10 who say to the seers, “Do not see,” and to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us what is right; speak to us smooth things, prophesy illusions,   ESV

Too many Christians boast of wanting Christ in their life and of worshiping God, but are hypocritical in that they resist or refuse to abide by the Christian mandates required and expected. And Isaiah points out the hypocrisy of people who put up a phony front but in reality are the very people who reject the truth, and don’t want to truth, and would prefer to hear things that are compatible with their feelings, prejudices, and desires.

The seers, is a reference to the prophets.

And people who have a negative attitude towards truth, despite their pretense of desiring truth, really want to hear the things that they want to hear.

An easy way to describe this would be to look at politics. Politicians will say and promise things that are unrealistic, just to get elected. People will vote for politicians who say and promise things that everyone knows are unrealistic, but they are the things that the people want to hear. As if somehow by voting for a politician who tells them what they want to hear, will make things better.

People will set in motion the destruction of their own freedom and livelihood, and of their nation, believing that whatever it is that they get now will not have any repercussions for a long time in the future, if at all.

And this is the way most Christians are. They believe they can set their own course, even ignoring Gods mandates, and there won’t be any impact against them.

And what this says in effect, is that the truth carries no weight, and what we want to hear, is more important than the truth.

Because what we want to hear is more pleasant to our ears, then we do not want to hear the things that are unpleasant. And certainly we do not want to hear things that could be construed as criticism against us for what we say or think or do. Therefore too many Christians coast through life, in passive defiance against truth. Knowing all the while that there are going to be repercussions. But since those repercussions don’t occur now or immediately, then somehow those repercussions simply don’t exist.

People don’t want to be reminded of the responsibilities and obligations in life.

People don’t want to be told what they have to do with respect to the spiritual life.

People come up with all forms of excuses as to why they do not need to study daily, as to why they do not need to support the teaching of the word of God, as to why they can’t come up with their own ideas and agenda and define their own spiritual style.

And because people are closed minded, and in effect, unteachable, and always looking for justification of not doing what is expected, then they will fail. And failure is certain and inevitable for those who resist, who reject, or are indifferent toward the spiritual growth process which God has defined.

These studies are a part of the massive daily study web site at DailyBibeStudy.Org, and are written, so that you can come to Christ if you have not done so already, and therefore not be lost forever.

And if you have already believed in Christ, then these studies are written so you can learn and understand and grow in your spiritual life, so that you can come to the full knowledge of Christ, so that you can fulfill your meaning and purpose in life as God intended for you, and so you can qualify for a phenomenal eternal reward which you will have forever.

To ignore this opportunity to pursue a daily study means you will be incomplete, unfulfilled and you will lose out, big time.

The Daily Bible Study is online, making it possible as never before in all of human history, to advance in ones relationship with God, through Christ, and to complete yourself beyond your imagination.

But you have to decide to make that commitment.  No one else can study for you.  You have to do that yourself.
