Isaiah 30:5

Isaiah 30:5

5 They were all ashamed [yabesh] of a people [`am] that could not profit [ya`al] them, nor be an help [`ezer] nor profit [ya`al], but a shame [bosheth], and also a reproach [cherpah].   KJV-Interlinear

5 everyone comes to shame through a people that cannot profit them, that brings neither help nor profit, but shame and disgrace.”   ESV

Syria and Assyria, to the north, were threats to both the northern nation of Israel and the southern nation of Judah. The northern nation turned to Syria in order to gain an alliance against the Assyrians. And that of course failed miserably.

Judah turned to Egypt in order to form an alliance with Egypt against Assyria. However Egypt had his own plans which meant using Judah as a buffer against Assyria, for Egypt’s own protection.

Both the northern kingdom of Israel and the southern kingdom of Judah turned to worldly alliances rather than to the Lord. And of course they failed miserably in their attempt to secure themselves against the threats of the world.

Judah is in view here. They sent their princes and their nobles, along with a tremendous treasury of valuables, to Egypt in order to secure that alliance.

But they did not get the alliance. And even if they did, Egypt would’ve double-crossed them and left them to fend for themselves.

Egypt is symbolic of the sinful world. And whenever there is an attempt to turn to worldly resources for ones security or prosperity, or whatever, then that attempt will fail. It matters not whether you are a poor man or billionaire. The end of one’s life comes to both the poor and wealthy, and if you have rejected Christ, then your entire life, regardless of your balance sheet or pocketbook, is a total failure.

The only thing you have to take with you into the afterlife, is your shame and disgrace which is all you accomplished during this life.

The wicked person is anyone who rejects Christ, or anyone who rejects their spiritual life as God has defined and designed it. So whether you are an unbeliever or a believer, it makes no difference, so long as this life is concerned.

It is very difficult to convince the wicked person that all they are doing is ruining their own life. And as their stubborn resistance sets in, they expose themselves to greater and greater self-deception.

The only way to discern reality from the false, is to learn Bible doctrine.

These studies are a part of the massive daily study web site at DailyBibeStudy.Org, and are written, so that you can come to Christ if you have not done so already, and therefore not be lost forever.

And if you have already believed in Christ, then these studies are written so you can learn and understand and grow in your spiritual life, so that you can come to the full knowledge of Christ, so that you can fulfill your meaning and purpose in life as God intended for you, and so you can qualify for a phenomenal eternal reward which you will have forever.

To ignore this opportunity to pursue a daily study means you will be incomplete, unfulfilled and you will lose out, big time.

The Daily Bible Study is online, making it possible as never before in all of human history, to advance in ones relationship with God, through Christ, and to complete yourself beyond your imagination.

But you have to decide to make that commitment.  No one else can study for you.  You have to do that yourself.
