Isaiah
29:23
23 But when he seeth [ra'ah] his children [yeled], the
work [ma`aseh] of mine hands [yad], in the midst [qereb] of
him, they shall sanctify [qadash] my name [shem], and sanctify [qadash] the
Holy One [qadowsh] of Jacob [Ya`aqob], and shall fear [`arats]
the God ['elohiym] of Israel [Yisra'el]. KJV-Interlinear
23 For when he sees his children,
the work of my hands, in his midst, they will sanctify my name; they will
sanctify the Holy One of Jacob and will stand in awe of the God of Israel. ESV
From the beginning of the human race, there have been
many generations, in all of which there have been, and are, and will still be
more, believers in Christ.
From the time of Abraham to the time of Jacob, when
the line of Christ was separated out from the rest of humanity and thus
distinguished as Gods people, as different from all other peoples, then all of
this has been the work of God, not of man.
Left to his own devices, man would have destroyed himself
a long time ago and neither you nor I would be here now.
But God can look down through the tunnel of time and
see all of the generations and therefore all of those who will believe and
therefore all who belong to Him. But
more specifically, He sees the Jewish people, who have failed miserably even
since Jacob, and have continued to fail in every generation, and will continue
to fail up to and including the last generation in human history.
They too, the Jewish race, should have been destroyed
long ago, but were it not for Gods grace and Gods hand in controlling history,
there would be no final generation of Jews, at the end of time. And yet there will be a generation, the final
generation that will finally turn to Christ.
And they will be there despite all of Satans efforts
to remove them and prevent them from making it to the end of history.
This accomplishment, will be Gods accomplishment.
And despite their refusal to recognize Christ
throughout history, they will then sanctify His name, even the Holy One of
Jacob, namely the Messiah, who is Jesus Christ, and stand in awe in His personal
presence at the Second Advent and thereafter.
