Isaiah
29:20
20 For the terrible one [`ariyts] is brought to nought ['aphec], and the scorner [luwts] is consumed [kalah], and all that watch [shaqad]
for iniquity ['aven] are cut off [karath]: KJV-Interlinear
20 For the ruthless shall come to
nothing and the scoffer cease, and all who watch to do evil shall be cut off, ESV
All disregard for God, for Christ, for doctrine, for
the spiritual life, for truth, ends up in making one, known as terrible. For in rejecting everything good, one
embraces everything bad by default.
There is only good and bad. Good is from God and everything from God is
good. If it is not from God, then it is
not good, therefore it is bad.
So, if you comply with God, then you are yourself
good. If you do not comply with God,
then you are what? Certainly not good,
which leaves only bad. And so we won’t
play games with ugly, if you get the meaning here.
Life is not a movie thing.
And so Isaiah describes three categories of
wickedness. Those who actively pursue
wickedness, the terrible ones, and those who talk, the scoffers, and then there
are those who sit back and watch but do nothing, the watchers.
Everyone in the world, who is not actively engaged in
and proactive in their spiritual life, their legitimate spiritual life, can be
found in one of these three categories.
Saying you are spiritual does not make it so. Your
actions have to follow your words, and your actions have to be in compliance
with Gods process.
But regardless of which the transgressor is, the
result is always the same.
In life, everyone is removed from this world. The average life span is about 80 years. Some leave the world at an older age, and
some leave it at an earlier age. But,
you will find, amazingly enough, that everyone is removed by death. And that means that you, too, will be
removed, one way or another. So, you
have to face your eternal destiny.
Only those who prepare for it correctly, will have a
great destiny. Those who ignore Gods plan
and try it their own way, will lose, big time.
But remember, the overall subject of this book of
Isaiah. It is directed at the final days
of history, and the end.
And here in the past several verses, he is teaching us
that there will be a transformation in the minds of people, which refers to those
who make it to the Millennium and certainly for those who make it to the
eternal state.
The old opinions, the old beliefs, the old religions,
the old philosophies, and so forth, all of which are ludicrous, will be removed
from history.
People will be transformed with truth.
People can be transformed with truth now, if only they
try.
But when it is all said and done, the eternal state
will never see anything which is not from God.
Nothing untruthful, from this universe and history, will transfer into
eternity.
People will forget the old and know only truth, and
there will never be anymore inventions in beliefs, that are not guided by truth.
Come to nothing, cut off, and cease mean a total
removal of these types of evil things.
So, again, you can be a talker and do nothing, or you
can get your act together, and begin or stick with, your spiritual pursuit, and
then have a phenomenal eternity.
