Proverbs 1:13
13 We shall find [matsa'] all
precious [yaqar]
substance [hown], we
shall fill [male'] our
houses [bayith] with
spoil [shalal]: KJV-Interlinear
13 we shall find all precious goods, we
shall fill our houses with plunder; ESV
Getting something
for nothing, is the attitude thread that is common to indifferent Christians
who do not comply with the mandates of God, as well as criminal types that chase
after get rich quick schemes.
The words for
precious and substance, have a connotation of heaviness, as in vast wealth, and
lightness, as in easy money.
And so the
enticement comes at the prospects of profit without the effort, for the
prospect of immediate riches with little investment. And these are strong
inducements for those who do not want to engage in any sort of work or study
ethic, which requires days and weeks and months and years of effort.
Is far easier to
take that which someone else has earned, or to pretend and therefore expect
entitlement of something, just because you are there.
Filling our
houses, indicates possession and ownership, of whatever it is you want or take.
It is the belief that whatever you have taken, was yours to take, and was owed
to you, simply because you believe it.
Plunder, simply
means everything is up for grabs. It means that everything that is out there,
is legitimately up for the taking. And this is the belief basis that drives criminally
oriented religions that presume they are entitled, and everyone else is not.
This is also the
basis of belief for those who refuse to follow Gods word, and presume that they
are somehow exempt from the mandates and responsibilities and obligations of
Christianity. It is far easier to ignore these mandates and still expect God’s
blessing. It is far easier to presume blessing, because it is a gift, and
therefore exempt yourself from responsibility.
Even though their
actions are quite different, the radical criminal and the indifferent
Christian, have very similar attitudes.
These
studies are a part of the massive daily study web site at DailyBibeStudy.Org,
and are written, so that you can come to Christ if you have not done so
already, and therefore not be lost forever.
And
if you have already believed in Christ, then these studies are written so you
can learn and understand and grow in your spiritual life, so that you can come
to the full knowledge of Christ, so that you can fulfill your meaning and
purpose in life as God intended for you, and so you can qualify for a
phenomenal eternal reward which you will have forever. To ignore this opportunity to pursue a daily
study means you will be incomplete, unfulfilled and you will lose out, big
time.
The
Daily Bible Study is online, making it possible as never before in all of human
history, to advance in ones relationship with God, through Christ, and to
complete yourself beyond your imagination.
But
you have to decide to make that commitment.
No one else can study for you.
You have to do that yourself.
