Proverbs 1:33

Proverbs 1:33

33 But whoso hearkeneth [shama`] unto me shall dwell [shakan] safely [betach], and shall be quiet [sha'an] from fear [pachad] of evil [ra`].   KJV-Interlinear

33 but whoever listens to me will dwell secure and will be at ease, without dread of disaster.” ESV

And finally, this chapter of Proverbs closes out with the best advice that you can ever receive in life. Whoever listens to God, meaning whoever listens to Bible doctrine by means of a daily instruction in Bible doctrine, will have a full and meaningful life.

You will live in safety. And that simply means that anything and everything in opposition to God, cannot touch you. The world cannot destroy you. Your personal circumstances of life are irrelevant.

The real you, exists within your soul. And the content of your soul, is beyond the reach of creation.

Bible doctrine in the soul, provides you with the security and guarantee of blessing from God, for all of eternity.

The world cannot do better than that. You cannot do better than that on your own.

God exists both within and without the boundaries of creation. God controls everything inside and outside the boundaries of creation. God has sovereign authority over everything.

There is no greater power, and no greater resource, then God, and Jesus Christ is our access to those resources.

Ignore God and Christ and doctrine in your life, and you may as well bet on a dead horse.

Pursue God and Christ and doctrine in your life, and you will be betting on a horse that has already won the race.

Study [by instruction],
to show thyself approved [spiritually mature]
unto God,
a workman [student]
that need not be ashamed [ignorant],
rightly dividing [learning, understanding, discerning]
the word of truth [Bible doctrine].

If you can dream and not make dreams your master,
If you can think and not let thoughts narrow your views,
If you can meet triumph with disaster equally,
If you can learn and see your full meaning and purpose in life,
Then you can believe in Christ, learn Bible doctrine, and grow far beyond the potential that God has prepared for you.

These studies are a part of the massive daily study web site at DailyBibeStudy.Org, and are written, so that you can come to Christ if you have not done so already, and therefore not be lost forever.

And if you have already believed in Christ, then these studies are written so you can learn and understand and grow in your spiritual life, so that you can come to the full knowledge of Christ, so that you can fulfill your meaning and purpose in life as God intended for you, and so you can qualify for a phenomenal eternal reward which you will have forever.  To ignore this opportunity to pursue a daily study means you will be incomplete, unfulfilled and you will lose out, big time.

The Daily Bible Study is online, making it possible as never before in all of human history, to advance in ones relationship with God, through Christ, and to complete yourself beyond your imagination.

But you have to decide to make that commitment.  No one else can study for you.  You have to do that yourself.

Proverbs 1:32

Proverbs 1:32

32 For the turning away [mashuwbah] of the simple [pathiy] shall slay [harag] them, and the prosperity [shalvah] of fools [kaciyl] shall destroy ['abad] them.   KJV-Interlinear

32 For the simple are killed by their turning away, and the complacency of fools destroys them; ESV

We have studied previously, that the simple, is a term that typically relates to those who are naïve of Bible doctrine. Bible doctrine is truth, and lacking doctrine means lacking truth. And lacking truth means lacking understanding. And lacking understanding means that you do not have a clue as to what’s going on in life.

Fools, is a term that typically relates to those people who see all of the facts, but choose against them.

And whether you are simple, and indifferent, or whether you are a fool, and proactively arrogant, the end result will be the same.

Most people in the world, which we are almost 8 billion strong, live in poverty levels. Less than 1% of 1% can claim millionaire or billion or status. Less than 5% can claim middle or upper income status. That leaves 95%, give or take, of the entire worlds population, who are poor or worse than poor.

The odds against you in this world, are great. And even if you have the luck of being in the right place at the right time, you still have to battle for your position and rank in life.

No matter what your success or failure is in life, in this world, your worldly priorities, will be your undoing.

Ignore God, and focus on the world only, and you are pursuing a course of disaster.

Ignore God, and focus on the world only, and you still have a slim chance of some semblance of success, which will be temporary at best.

The worst possible scenario in life, is to ignore God, fail in life and be poor, and end up with an absolutely meaningless life.

Following close behind that, is to ignore God, have some semblance of worldly success, but still come to the end of your life, with a meaningless life.

Pursuing God, and your spiritual life, is the only way to have meaning and purpose and success both now and forever. And the circumstances of your life are irrelevant, because your relationship with God, if you develop it, will present you with success for all of eternity.

Proverbs 1:31

Proverbs 1:31

31 Therefore shall they eat ['akal] of the fruit [pariy] of their own way [derek], and be filled [saba`] with their own devices [mow`etsah].   KJV-Interlinear

31 therefore they shall eat the fruit of their way, and have their fill of their own devices. ESV

Those who are wise in their own eyes, those who ignore daily instruction, those who otherwise pretend interest in Bible doctrine, are left to their own devices and to the success of their own efforts and to their own demise, which is certain, and totally caused by themselves.

Therefore, God leaves them to their own efforts. God allows them to succeed or fail, as the world determines, because the framework of the world, which is also designed by God, leaves ample room for believers and unbelievers alike, to function in accordance with their own choices, within the framework of establishment principles.

However, life in this world is temporary. And anything that is temporary, obviously is not permanent.

Bible doctrine is permanent, and carries over into the next life.

Dedicating oneself only to the design of this world, is dedicating oneself to the possibility of temporary success, but guarantees permanent failure. And anyone simply looking around the world, can see that 99% of the people in the world, are not successful.

But, under the principles of common grace, everyone has the opportunity to pursue life in accordance with their own definition. But also, everyone is well-informed that life will end, and their choices, if not for God, will come back to haunt them at the end of their life.

Proverbs 1:30

Proverbs 1:30

30 They would ['abah] none of my counsel [`etsah]: they despised [na'ats] all my reproof [towkechah].   KJV-Interlinear

30 would have none of my counsel and despised all my reproof, ESV

Continuing on from verse 29. When a person has rejected knowledge, they are in effect rejecting Gods counsel. When a person has rejected knowledge, which comes from Bible doctrine, then the person rejects Gods corrections.

So, by rejecting knowledge, which means rejecting a daily study that teaches knowledge, then a person is isolating themselves away from truth, and away from true counsel.

Proper counseling helps you make decisions, correct decisions for life.

When you reject counsel, because you have rejected a daily study in the word of God, then you cannot make good decisions in life, because you lack good information.

Using only the world as your teacher, leaves you open to misinterpretation, misunderstanding, wrong conclusions, and therefore, wrong decisions.

And the worst wrong decision that anyone can have in life, is to think that they don’t need Bible doctrine.

Bible doctrine is the substance of truth, the building material of the soul, the structural integrity that is installed within your soul, which is the real you.

Without Bible doctrine in the soul, you are empty and incomplete.

Without Bible doctrine in the soul, you are nothing more than historical filler, making you pretty much a waste of time for history.

And who wants to be a waste of time?

Proverbs 1:29

Copyright  2016 J. Neely
Proverbs 1:29

29 For that they hated [sane'] knowledge [da`ath], and did not choose [bachar] the fear [yir'ah] of the LORD [Yahovah]:   KJV-Interlinear

29 Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD, ESV

Verse 28, explains that God turns His back on you, closes His eyes and ears to you, and otherwise ignores you. And verses 29 and 30, explain why.

When God is not watching over you, or otherwise not paying attention to you, it is not because of a defect in God, but is always a result of you, your actions, your thoughts, and your attitude.

There are two kinds of knowledge.

The first kind of knowledge, is that which we are all used to, and know about from our everyday life. We generally call this academic or experiential knowledge. It is what we learn in school, or from our day-to-day life.

The second kind of knowledge, comes to us by means of our day by day Bible study. Bible study, when done in the correct way, opens our eyes and understanding to the realities of life, and orients us to the realities of life and of this world. Bible doctrine gives us the correct interpretation of facts and how they relate to reality.

The first kind of knowledge is simply world knowledge. This gives us information, but does not give us the correct interpretation of that information. Consequently, misinterpretation can and does occur. Misinterpretation leads to false conclusions. False conclusions lead to wrong decisions. And wrong decisions lead to failure and disaster.

For example, evolution comes from the observation of worldly things. Evolution rejects the role of God in creation. Evolution is world knowledge which has been misinterpreted, leading to wrong conclusions.

Another example, when you look at world governments like socialism, or communism, or dictatorships, and so forth, then world observation is misinterpreted as conclusions are guided by the sin nature, such as in power lust, or convenient views of equality, and so forth. And such things in reality, do not exist. They are illusions which cater to selfish interests.

And the biggest example is when people ignore Bible doctrine, and presume that they already know enough, or do not need a daily study in Bible doctrine. And this is the biggest mistake of all.

The reality is God, and truth, which comes from Bible doctrine.

To ignore God and truth, in the worst case scenario, means the Lake of Fire. Under another scenario, for believers in Christ, who ignore their daily study, then lack of Bible doctrine, means lack of knowledge, means imitating unbelievers, and otherwise making the typical mistakes that the common man without doctrine makes everyday.

Therefore, by rejecting doctrine, you are rejecting truth. And by rejecting truth, you are rejecting God and all that He stands for and is.

Consequently, since God operates on truth, then by rejecting truth, you are in effect shutting God off from yourself.

Proverbs 1:28

Proverbs 1:28

28 Then shall they call [qara'] upon me, but I will not answer [`anah]; they shall seek me early [shachar], but they shall not find [matsa'] me:   KJV-Interlinear

28 Then they will call upon me, but I will not answer; they will seek me diligently but will not find me. ESV

Back in verse twenty-two, we studied three categories of spiritually indifferent people. They are the simple, the scorner, and the fool. Each category displays increasing levels of indifference.

The Bible is the written word of God. God has magnified His word above His own name.

The written word contained within the Bible, is our sole access to truth, to understanding, to knowing God.

The written word, is the means by which we learn and obtain wisdom. And it is wisdom, that is speaking within this verse.

If you do not learn Bible doctrine, then you cannot learn wisdom. And if you do not know wisdom, then you cannot access the resources of wisdom.

Those who do not learn wisdom, lack wisdom, because they do not learn Bible doctrine. And they do not learn Bible doctrine, because they do not pursue it. Their spiritual life is not genuine, and therefore is phony.

And when times of trouble strike, then the lack of resources within the mind, because of the lack of resources within the soul, expose the individual to the dangers and pressures and terrors of life, with no real support beyond their life.

God does not bend down into this world, and into the life of the individual, and work His will, directly.

Gods will, functions by means of the word of God. And to learn His will and function within His will, then you have to know His will.

Wisdom is the content of the Scriptures, that is resident within your soul. It is resident within your soul because you have learned it by means of a daily Bible study.

And when you face trouble, and lack wisdom within your soul, then wisdom will not hear you, and wisdom will not respond to you, because so far as your soul is concerned, it simply isn’t there.

To seek early, refers to someone getting up at the crack of dawn, and going out and searching for something in the obscurity of that early morning twilight. This typically refers to the diligence and genuineness and earnestness of the search. And the symbolism of the early dawn, is that of the light breaking forth and revealing itself to the person who is earnestly searching.

But the indifferent person, which describes every person who does not pursue Bible doctrine by learning it daily from instruction, is the same person that lacks the genuine desire to seek out, to find, and to learn Gods will.

The result, is that the individual is ill-equipped when disaster strikes. And the resources that should have been there, are not at his disposal, because he didn’t prepare himself when he could have.

Proverbs 1:27

Proverbs 1:27

27 When your fear [pachad] cometh [bow'] as desolation [show'] [sha'avah], and your destruction ['eyd] cometh ['athah] as a whirlwind [cuwphah]; when distress [tsarah] and anguish [tsowq] cometh [bow'] upon you.   KJV-Interlinear

27 when terror strikes you like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you. ESV

Not learning Bible doctrine by means of instruction, leaves you in a state of spiritual ignorance. Bible doctrine cannot be self-taught, as so many wrongfully believe. This leaves you vulnerable to the many difficulties of life.

Bible doctrine is the foundation ingredient that the soul needs, in order to deal with life. You have to learn it in order to have it in your soul.

When disaster strikes, you primarily use the resources within your soul, to deal with the disasters and difficulties of life.

Without Bible doctrine, you lack the spiritual resources, which are the real and true resources, that are needed in order to handle any and all aspects of life.

God sits back on His throne in heaven, having given each and every one of us His written word, and watches to see whether we are going to learn and use that word.

Without Bible doctrine in the soul, you lack the spiritual stability, you lack the spiritual muscle, you lack the spiritual faith that is needed when dealing with everything in life. And when trouble strikes, then you flounder, and this verse addresses that floundering.

When trouble strikes, you have to deal with fear, you have to deal with that which causes the fear, and then you have to deal with the trouble itself.

Without Bible doctrine in the soul, because it has not been learned, then you lack the spiritual resources that combat fear. Without spiritual resources then fear can quickly overtake your life.

Without spiritual resources, then anything and everything in life, small or great, can impose fear into your life. And when you have fear, then you have no stability. And without stability then the simplest of difficulties in life can overwhelm you. And the great difficulties of life can destroy you.

With Bible doctrine in your soul, then you have control over fear, and therefore control over how you deal with the difficulties of life. And this can make a huge difference in the quality of your life.

God does not bend down and fix your problems for you. More often than not you have to work your way through problems, and that requires a fear free thought process. Bible doctrine provides the clarity of thought that helps you get through life.

Proverbs 1:26

Proverbs 1:26

26 I also will laugh [sachaq] at your calamity ['eyd]; I will mock [la`ag] when your fear [pachad] cometh [bow'];   KJV-Interlinear

26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when terror strikes you, ESV

If you have ever been in a position where you know you are right, and someone else believes that they are right, but in fact they are wrong, and then realize that they are wrong, then your typical reaction would be one of confident victory.

There are only two views of life. The first view is the correct view, and the second view is the incorrect view.

Truth is the first view. Truth comes from God. Truth is the correct and accurate match-up of facts with reality. Anything and everything else, is not truth.

This is the Devils world. Evil is the Devils policy. Evil spends all of its time emphasizing distractions in everything imaginable in order to redirect people away from truth. And so people get caught up in the details of life, such as whether to wear this color or that color, whether someone is smarter or not so smart, whether to be a part of this group or that group, whether this or that sin is better or worse than another, and the list goes on and on and on, into every possible and imaginable subject and category of life.

And people get caught up in all of these details, and consequently get distracted away from truth. And therefore their focus and priorities in life, get all mixed up.

God has created a process by which truth can be learned and understood, and therefore allows a person to see the real and important things of life, and discern the differences in life, and realize that eternal life and preparation for it, are more important than any or all of the details that exist in this world.

The details of life lead to pettiness and mediocrity, and they lead you to a dead end in your life.

The details of Bible doctrine lead you to correct wisdom, and therefore the correct priorities of life, which are God, and Christ, and your spiritual life, and your eventual destiny in heaven forever.

And so people run around through life and through history, with their, I am so right, heads cut off, and do not realize the error of their ways and the error of their priorities, until the end of their life.

And they are hounded and burdened with the calamities of life, never realizing that they are bringing them all onto themselves.

And wisdom, which happens to be the subject of these Proverbs, sits back and smiles and laughs at the ridiculousness of humanity in its distraction from truth, and the calamity consequences of that mindset.

Making the details of this life your utmost priority, even to the point of being rigid about those details, whatever they are, are nothing more than a trap and a distraction away from truth.

Your destiny is not in this world, it is in heaven. And ignoring preparation for that correct destiny, is the ultimate failure of life.

Proverbs 1:25

Copyright  2016 J. Neely
Proverbs 1:25

25 But ye have set at nought [para`] all my counsel [`etsah], and would ['abah] none of my reproof [towkechah]:   KJV-Interlinear

25 because you have ignored all my counsel and would have none of my reproof, ESV

There is great blessing when you submit yourself to the instruction of the word of God, and listen and learn and grow up in your spiritual life. There is great cursing when you ignore or refuse instruction.

The word for nought, para, means to reject, ignore, to overlook, to not take seriously.

And of all of the failures in the spiritual life, the greatest failure and most frequent failure, comes in the form of failing to learn Bible doctrine.

And that failure is described here in this verse.

Throughout all of human history, over the last 6000+ years, only during these last ten years, because of the Internet and smart phones, and smart devices, has there been the most phenomenal advantage and opportunity to learn every aspect of the word of God, and to advance farther than anyone has ever advanced in their spiritual life.

And yet, in this age of fast-paced technology, there seems to be a tendency of greater indifference toward learning truth, rather than greater desire to learn Bible doctrine.

People view themselves as intelligent, as smart, as wise. And yet the wisest thing that anyone can do, is to learn Bible doctrine, which has infinite and eternal possibilities.

However, people tend to pursue the temporary things of this world, and base their beliefs on things that have no substance.

Wisdom, which is found in the Bible, is personified here as a woman. It is addressed to those who are categorized as simple, as scoffers, and as fools. We studied those three categories a couple of lessons ago.

The masculine, or the male, is the authority figure as designed by God. And yet wisdom is communicated from the feminine point of view, or the motherly source. And that is because those who ignore doctrine, typically reject authority, but will listen to the soft voice of the woman.

And for those who reject even the female voice, which is often considered as the most pleasant of all voices, only demonstrates the magnitude of the indifference toward God, toward Christ, and toward Bible doctrine.

And this is amazing, given the phenomenal technology of our time, and the phenomenal opportunity, which no one else in all of human history has had. And that points to a tremendous waste of opportunity, and a tremendous squandering of the resources which God has freely given to each one of us.

Sooner or later the phrase, too late, will cancel and terminate all efforts, that are in reality false efforts, in the attainment and function of the spiritual life, and relationship with God through Christ.

Our communication with God, is through the written word contained in the Bible.

The phrase, I have stressed out my hand, is a reference to the instruction that is provided from the Bible, through instructors, which is the primary means for learning Bible doctrine.

Those who heed the Bible, listen and learn, and subsequently grow up and develop in their spiritual life, and to them, come the blessings of life through Christ.

Those who do not subordinate themselves to a daily instruction do so out of arrogance, and an indifference toward Gods mandate to commit themselves to a daily study.

The content of the Bible, is the food of the soul.

Food is something that you eat daily. The nourishment of the soul, requires a daily diet of Bible doctrine.

Developing in the spiritual life, requires virtually no effort on your part, except through listening, or reading the instructions that are provided by an instructor.

Residing in fellowship, which is obtained by confessing your sins on a regular basis, to God the Father, is the environment in which your spiritual life functions.

Failure in the spiritual life, comes from a long list of excuses, as to why you cannot and do not comply with Gods mandates.

Most people behave like children, and pretend they can’t do something, or can’t find something, or ask silly questions like, help me do this or help me do that, as they refuse to take the initiative and do something themselves. Consequently, they don’t grow up, and they don’t develop in their spiritual life.

God has provided for each one of us, phenomenal blessings for this life, and for the next.

People who do not pursue the development of their spiritual life now, do not have these blessings, and consequently miss out on the greatest life that is available to them now. And that is tragic, because the greatest life is available now, but childish behavior prevents adult behavior, which prevents blessing.

And the only person at fault, is you.

And so we have this proverb, which comes directly from God, for all Scripture is God breathed.

People did not invent the Scriptures, but only wrote down what God gave them to write.

This daily Bible study, is freely and available online, and is accessible through the Internet, by nearly everyone in the world, who has a computer, or a phone, or some smart device, which most people in this world possess, in one form or another.

Therefore, no one has an excuse for failing in their spiritual life.

It is the individual’s fault for the lack of initiative and the lack of effort, to read a study, to click on a link and go to a study, to search through the website or the blog, and discover the many hundreds of charts, and special studies, and the vast library of daily studies, which by the way, numbers in the thousands, all of which are easy to access.

You are the only one that controls your attitude.

There is no set of circumstances or situations in this world anywhere, that can prevent you are thinking, that can prevent your desire, for spiritual life in a relationship with God through Christ.

If you genuinely desire it, God will bring doctrine to you, or you to doctrine.

It regardless of who you are or where you are in this world, you have an opportunity to have a life with the greatest of opportunities, now.

But as this verse states, God calls, and extends his hand, which symbolically means that this opportunity is available to you.

But, if you do not heed the call, then the fall is yours, and someday sooner or later you will cross the line of, too late. And that is the greatest failure and loss that you can ever have.

But for the moment, until God removes you from this world, you have the opportunity for the greatest success for this life, that is beyond imagination.

The question is, will you heed the call, will you pursue the call, will you engage in a daily study, and stick with it every day throughout your entire life?

And by the way, don’t get caught in the false excuse, that you can do it all on your own, or on your own terms. One of the things you need to learn first, is that Bible doctrine is taught through an instructor, and is not self-taught.

An infant does not self-teach nor self-educate. The infant learns from others.

The student of the word of God cannot self-teach nor self-educate. These are typical cute excuses used as a disguise for an otherwise indifferent attitude, wherein people simply do not study and do not learn.

Study [by instruction],
to show thyself approved [spiritually mature]
unto God,
a workman [student]
that need not be ashamed [ignorant],
rightly dividing [learning, understanding, discerning]
the word of truth [Bible doctrine].
