Isaiah 31:1

Isaiah 31:1

1 Woe [howy] to them that go down [yarad] to Egypt [Mitsrayim] for help [`ezrah]; and stay [sha`an] on horses [cuwc], and trust [batach] in chariots [rekeb], because they are many [rab]; and in horsemen [parash], because they are very [ma`od] strong [`atsam]; but they look [sha`ah] not unto the Holy One [qadowsh] of Israel [Yisra'el], neither seek [darash] the LORD [Yahovah]!   KJV-Interlinear

1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the LORD!  ESV

Most Christians are easily deceived by appearances, because they do not know what is expected of them, do not attempt to find out what is expected of them, presume that they already know what is expected of them, and therefore being wrong, they leave themselves wide open for failure.

Horses and chariots, paint a picture of power and superiority.

Horses and chariots, speed and strength, are elements of this world that give a false sense of ability, and advantage, and security.

And when people look to their own wisdom, to their own resources or abilities, and rely on them to the exclusion of the spiritual life and relationship with God, then they are deceiving themselves, and placing their trust in things that are temporary at best, but weak and empty at most.

Trusting in a temporary empty resource, is a recipe for eventual failure.

Jesus Christ controls history.

As such, the outcome of everything in life, with respect to Christ, is already won.

Trusting in the things of this world, is trusting in certain loss and failure.

And this verse opens up with the word, woe, which is an extreme warning, that doing what you’re doing is a path to failure.

The only path to certain success is through Christ. And you gain Christ, through doctrine, which has to be learned little by little, day by day, in order to build up the inner resources of your spiritual life to their fullest potential.

The Holy One of Israel, is a reference to the Messiah, who holds the title Son of God, who is the unique person of the universe, the God-man, namely Jesus Christ.

He is the Lord, and is the one through whom we all consult, by means of Bible doctrine, while resident in fellowship, which is controlled by the Holy Spirit.

To ignore this basic truth, means you ignore the wisdom of God, in preference for the false appearances of the world and your own false wisdom, and that means that the difficulties you will have in life, are going to be of your own making, and your inability to face difficulties, will be due to your failed spiritual preparation.

These studies are a part of the massive daily study web site at DailyBibeStudy.Org, and are written, so that you can come to Christ if you have not done so already, and therefore not be lost forever.

And if you have already believed in Christ, then these studies are written so you can learn and understand and grow in your spiritual life, so that you can come to the full knowledge of Christ, so that you can fulfill your meaning and purpose in life as God intended for you, and so you can qualify for a phenomenal eternal reward which you will have forever.

To ignore this opportunity to pursue a daily study means you will be incomplete, unfulfilled and you will lose out, big time.

The Daily Bible Study is online, making it possible as never before in all of human history, to advance in ones relationship with God, through Christ, and to complete yourself beyond your imagination.

But you have to decide to make that commitment.  No one else can study for you.  You have to do that yourself.
