Isaiah 29:14

Isaiah 29:14

14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed [yacaph] to do a marvellous work [pala'] among this people [`am], even a marvellous work [pala'] and a wonder [pele']: for the wisdom [chokmah] of their wise [chakam] men shall perish ['abad], and the understanding [biynah] of their prudent [biyn] men shall be hid [cathar].   KJV-Interlinear

14 therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”   ESV

The curse of the double darkness.  This is what occurs when people profess beliefs, but in fact do not pursue or even demonstrate even a curiosity in what Gods word has to offer.  The Bible gives us the information and the process for learning that information, so we can see and become oriented with the real realities around us, but mans arrogance and refusal to pursue learning Bible doctrine, causes a blindness which leaves him believing that he sees everything, but in fact he sees nothing.

Gods word is the light.  Gods word is the access to the light.  Light is the environment in which we can see and see everything.

Mans wisdom is a form of light, but it is limited to the immediate temporal world around us. Mans wisdom cannot see into the spiritual side of life, thus it is limited.

So, rejecting Gods word prevents you from seeing the realities of all life.

Professing to love Gods word, but in fact not following Gods process for learning and using Bible doctrine, is the worst of arrogance, because it is a fools boasting, and an investment is nothing.  There is not even an inkling of interest or curiosity in learning what God has provided.

Limiting ones knowledge to mans wisdom, which includes all manner of mans views in life, whether political, social, scientific, environmental, philosophical, and so forth, places investment on the presumption that mans opinions are accurate, which in fact they are not.

And then, there is Gods punishment, which is in fact mans self-inflicted punishment for believing lies.  And lies do not solve problems.

So, ignorant man, and even those who are the smartest of the smart, the wisest of the wise, as far as human knowledge goes, will look to his own devices, and mans plans are many.

And then, when life, all of life, gets dicey, because the truths of what is real, fall apart all around us, and we apply mans wisdom to those problems, but they do not work, then man is left with no solution.

And no solution, means confusion and disorientation and more attempts to solve while using false applications, and that means more confusion, and as the Bible states, when the light of man, which is mans wisdom becomes dark, or they do not work, and this results when man has rejected Gods truth, which is true light, then the result is a double darkness.

Jesus stated, when the light becomes dark then the dark becomes dark.

Light is Gods word.  Dark is the refusal to learn and use Gods word, thus it becomes dark.

Dark is mans wisdom.  And mans wisdom works only in the temporal or the physical world.  But there is more to reality to this world beyond the temporal.  And eventually mans wisdom (dark), will not work.  The rules of life as man has viewed them, fail.

So, one has to pursue Gods word in order to gain a correct orientation to life, all of life.

What is more important than the exact words in the Bible, is the process of learning and living.  Namely being saved, first and foremost, and confessing sins, in order to reside in fellowship.  Living in fellowship is the environment of the spiritual life. It is where light (Gods word) really works.  It is orientation to self, to God, to life, to Gods plan, and so forth.

And despite mans self-presumed wisdom, which will fail horribly one day, Gods wisdom and plan will work out marvelous things.  Namely the completion and conclusion of human history and all of Gods plan, and much, much more.
