Psalm 38:6

Psalm 38:6

6 I am troubled [`avah]; I am bowed down [shachach] greatly [ma`od]; I go [halak] mourning [qadar] all the day [yowm] long.   KJV-Interlinear

6 I am utterly bowed down and prostrate; all the day I go about mourning.  ESV

The word for troubled, avah, means to be made low, to be crooked, perverted or distorted, twisted.

The word for bowed down, shachach, means to be brought low, pushed down, depressed, to sink.

The word for mourning, qadar, means to be bowed down with sorrows, or grief, or a heavy heart, to be offensive to self and others as one would be when wearing filthy and foul clothing.

And the idea being presented here, is the state of ones life because of sin.

Sin so encapsulates the life of the individual such that it tears away all day long throughout the day and night. Sin is a constant and unwelcome companion, like the skin on your body, that is always there, and you cannot get rid of it, or get away from it.

Sin perverts the life. Sin distorts the life. Sin twists everything up in life. Sin is the lowest possible position that anyone can have in creation.

Sin is a state of perpetual grieving or mourning, that is accompanied by the filth and foul stench of the worst of life.

And, within creation, the human capability to shed away sin, does not exist.

On our own, we cannot solve the problems of our life, none of them.

In order to solve our problems, we need something and someone that is greater.

God has the power and the authority. Jesus Christ is our means of access to that power and authority. And Bible doctrine is our resource for understanding, and discernment of reality.
