Psalm 18:13
13 The LORD [Yahovah] also
thundered [ra`am] in the heavens, [shamayim] and the Highest ['elyown]
gave [nathan] his voice; [qowl] hail [barad] stones and
coals [gechel] of fire. ['esh] KJV-Interlinear
13 The
Lord also thundered in the heavens, And the Most High uttered His voice,
Hailstones and coals of fire. NASB
Massive storms can range
in height from the ground to many tens of thousands of feet in altitude.
Lightning can flash
across many miles. The sound of thunder
can carry across many more miles. Hail
can build from any elevation and fall in any size or location.
The repetition of these
things, contribute to the power and violence and spontaneity and fierceness of
the storm.
These describe the
awesomeness, the spontaneity, the thoroughness, the repetition of the onslaught,
the power, the violence, the loudness, and so forth, of the storm. And this also carries the symbolism of Gods
wrath and power from which no one can escape or hide.
When a violent storm is
screaming all around you, you cannot help but notice. When the roof and walls of the building
around you collapse and blow away, you cannot help but feel totally
helpless. When the hail and thunder and
lightning fall and clash and flash all around you, then you know your bad day
is just beginning. Totally exposed and
totally defenseless, and totally helpless is the result of your situation, when
Gods wrath comes calling.
Unfortunately for too
many folks, they do not pay any attention to God, until He literally tears
their life apart and drives them into a situation of total helplessness. And then, for most folks at least in our
current day, then they begin to pay some attention to God. Usually screaming or crying for help.
But when the final days
come along and Gods wrath is released throughout the entire planet, that last
generation of people will be so hard core anti-God, even the worst of the worst
of judgments will not turn their attitude to repentance.
