Ephesians 3:15
15 Of [ek] whom [hos] the whole [pas] family [patria] in [en] heaven [ouranos] and [kai] earth [epi] [ge] is named, [onomazo] KJV-Interlinear
15 from
whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, NASB
Of whom, is a reference
to Jesus Christ.
All families, is a
reference to all peoples who have believed in Christ, from anytime in history
since Adam until the end of human history, whenever that will be, no matter what
color you are, no matter what race you are, no matter what gender you are, no
matter what culture you were raised in, no matter whatever characteristics you
possess that make you unique or different or similar with or from others.
We are all born into the
same family, Gods family, and our name is derived from the head of that family,
namely Christian.
We are all
Christians. From Adam, to now and into
the future, all believers of the savior, the messiah, the Lord, whatever He was
called from throughout history, Jesus Christ is the one and only family head,
and we are all members of that Christian family, making us Christians.
There is only one Lord,
one family, one family name, whether in heaven or on this earth presently. And since the time of Adam, there will have
been perhaps trillions who have believed in Christ, or who died at a very young
age and were saved automatically (recall our study of Davids first born that
died). And this makes our Christian
family the single greatest and largest family ever. No other family will ever surpass ours.
