Romans 6:2

2 God forbid [me] [ginomai]. How [pos] shall we, that [hostis] are dead [apothnesko] to sin [hamartia], live [zao] any longer [eti] therein [en] [autos]?   KJV-Interlinear

2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?   ESV

God is giving you a guaranteed winning lottery ticket, paying the biggest infinite jackpot ever. Who would refuse to take that ticket?

Death is a complete and total separation from something. Typically, we think of it as a separation from life, as in the physical death of an individual. And when you are dead you no longer function amongst the living.

Spiritual death is a separation from God. That death is corrected by faith in Christ, wherein spiritual death is replaced with eternal life.

Fellowship death, is something that is experienced by the Christian, by means of sin. That death is corrected by confession of sin, which restores the individual into fellowship with God.

So the principle of death applies to several forms of separation, each being mutually exclusive from the other. The dead and the living have no interaction. There is no crossover between the two.

So when Christ went to the cross, and paid the price of sin, and was buried and resurrected, he defeated both sin and death.

Having defeated sin, then when we believe in Christ, we too identify with Christ, in that we are now dead to sin. Which means there is no interaction with sin such that sin can take control of our life or forever prevent us from having eternal life.

This does not mean that we cannot commit sins, for in this physical world, that is simply how life is.

With eternal life as a result of our salvation, we now have the opportunity of advancing in our spiritual life to bigger and better things. To turn our back against that spiritual opportunity, and choose to live in a temporal and carnal world of sin, which would sabotage that spiritual opportunity, does not make sense.

Life in this world has its obvious limitations. You will never be any better than what you are, and you will never have anything more than this world has to offer.

Life in the spiritual realm, is virtually unlimited. And you can always have, by pursuing your spiritual life, a destiny for eternity, that is infinitely beyond your imagination. Most people would say that is a lot.

And that is the treasure of the spiritual life.

To ignore ones spiritual life, to pretend, to be indifferent, to simply not care, to not make an effort in advancing oneself in accordance with Gods will is the quintessence of a fool.

God is giving you a guaranteed winning lottery ticket, paying the biggest infinite jackpot ever. Who would refuse to take that ticket?
