Psalm 37:40
40 And the LORD [Yahovah] shall
help [`azar] them,
and deliver [palat] them:
he shall deliver [palat] them
from the wicked [rasha`], and
save [yasha`] them,
because they trust [chacah] in
him. KJV-Interlinear
40 The LORD helps them and delivers them; he
delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him. ESV
The Lord, is the
personal name for the second person of the Trinity, namely Jesus Christ. It is
Christ who helps and delivers, and deliver is repeated twice in this verse,
with regard to Christians, who are believers in Jesus Christ.
The word for help,
azar, means to surround and protect.
The word for
deliver, palat, means to escape or carry away.
The first
reference of help and deliver, means a complete enclosure of the Lord around
each individual believer, a wall of fire protection, as it were. And then it is
also the Lord, that carries each person away, out of harm’s way.
The only thing
that you need to be protected from or carried away from, is evil. Anything that
is not evil, obviously is good. And there is no need to escape from good.
The word for save,
yasha, means to rescue, preserve, and protect, in victory.
The word for trust,
chacah, means to flee to protection, to confide in, to take refuge, to trust.
And this occurs
because the trust of the believer is directed toward the Lord, Jesus Christ,
and not to any other human or worldly resource.
The trust of the
believer, began with their initial faith in Christ, securing salvation for
them. And that trust continues and grows and strengthens, as their spiritual
life grows as a result of their daily Bible study.
Granted, most
Christians do not pursue their daily Bible study, and therefore do not grow up
in their spiritual life.
However, Christ is
truth and certain. And even though Christians fail and come up short in their
spiritual life, Christ does not fail, and security and protection within Him is
certain and absolute.
These
studies are a part of the massive daily study web site at DailyBibeStudy.Org,
and are written, so that you can come to Christ if you have not done so
already, and therefore not be lost forever.
And
if you have already believed in Christ, then these studies are written so you
can learn and understand and grow in your spiritual life, so that you can come
to the full knowledge of Christ, so that you can fulfill your meaning and
purpose in life as God intended for you, and so you can qualify for a
phenomenal eternal reward which you will have forever. To ignore this opportunity to pursue a daily
study means you will be incomplete, unfulfilled and you will lose out, big
time.
The
Daily Bible Study is online, making it possible as never before in all of human
history, to advance in ones relationship with God, through Christ, and to
complete yourself beyond your imagination.
But
you have to decide to make that commitment.
No one else can study for you.
You have to do that yourself.
