Isaiah 5:29

Isaiah 5:29

29 Their roaring [shaagah] shall be like a lion, [labiy'] they shall roar [sha'ag] [sha'ag] like young lions: [kaphiyr] yea, they shall roar, [naham] and lay hold ['achaz] of the prey, [tereph] and shall carry it away safe, [palat] and none shall deliver [natsal] it. KJV-Interlinear

29 Its roaring is like a lioness, and it roars like young lions; It growls as it seizes the prey, And carries it off with no one to deliver it. NASB

Israel has had its adversaries and enemies throughout all of history.  Israel has been used in the Bible as the symbolism of Gods nation or family, while all other countries are used to symbolize Gods enemies and the enemies of His nations.

Israel split into the two nations, the northern nation called Israel and later came to be known as Samaria, and Judah being the southern nation.

The northern nation of Israel symbolized those who separated away from God, while Judah represented those who continued to abide in Gods will.  But sooner or later that nation too, fell away, rejected the Savior, and faded from history.

When enemies rises up in battle, they bring with them yells and screams and noise makers and drums and all that they can bring, in order to raise their own adrenaline and to intimidate and strike fear in the hearts and morale of  their opponent.

Crowds do this at sporting events.  They yell as loud as they can, in order to cause stress and worry and mistakes in the opposing team.

But this roaring like a lion is more than competitive boasting, it is intended as a deadly assault for the purpose of destroying violently and totally and completely.

And this is what the enemies of God have in their hearts.  They are so full of hate, and so full of anti-God attitudes that they will rise up to destroy the people of God and even to destroy God, or so they believe.

This attitude and nature has occurred in history, but the time frame being expressed here, is the final days of history.

Now, recall our Revelations study, or review it.  During those final seven years of human rule, which is the Tribulation, life will be so horrible, so extremely horrible, that you would think that everyone, without exception, would rise up against the anti-christ and turn to God.  But not so.

Even in the face of horrendous times, the general population, worldwide, will increase their anger more and more, against the Israel specifically, but also against believers in general.

In those final days, they will invade Israel with such a passion, turn even against themselves, and kill and steal and rape and do every imaginable evil thing in order to accomplish something that they themselves do not even understand or comprehend.

Their hate will drive them.  The deceitful promises of the anti-christ will drive them.  Greed and selfishness and arrogance will drive them.  And they will roar loudly in an effort to make their hate and passion even stronger.  And we should all know that noise has no power.  It is just noise.

And they will roar like young lions.  Youth has no wisdom, no knowledge, no understanding.  Youth is typically driven spontaneously by emotion or passion or hate.  Logic and consideration for the repercussions of their actions never enter into their thoughts.

Now think for just a minute.  God is all powerful.  He created this universe and life and sustains it all on a continual basis.  What is it that you could do that is greater or even equal?  Nothing.  No human can do anything that would even come close to that of God.  We cannot even leave this planet for very long.  The weightlessness of space creates many difficulties for the human anatomy.  We certainly cannot leave the planet in huge numbers.

And yet the hate of those people in that final period, will completely blank out any reasonable thought or analysis of their situation, let alone the cause.

And on the other hand, those in Israel who have rejected God, have refused to get out when they were told, will find themselves in a killing field that has no equal in all of history.

And in the end, deliverance for negative believers will not exist.  They will die in masses.  As for their enemies, who will be charging in from all directions, their numbers will dwindle equally as fast as they kill and destroy even their own, in such a massive battle of confusion and betrayal, which likewise has no equal in history.

And still they will roar even in the face of utter devastation.  That is complete detachment from reality and reason.
