Psalm 18:29

Psalm 18:29

29 For by thee I have run through [ruwts] a troop; [gaduwd] and by my God ['elohiym] have I leaped over [dalag] a wall. [shuwr] KJV-Interlinear

29 For by Thee I can run upon a troop; And by my God I can leap over a wall. NASB

This is the devils world and it is full of enemies of God.  Anyone and everyone who rejects or is indifferent toward truth, is an enemy of God. And if you have aligned yourself with God, by means of your pursuit of truth as prescribed by God, then all of those enemies are your enemies as well.

The world is full of enticements, deceits, compromised morals and standards, lusts and more.  When you slump off of doctrine then you are at risk of succumbing to any and all of Gods.

But, when you maintain your pursuit and passion for doctrine and obedience to doctrine, then no enemy can defeat you.

And here is the verse that describes just that.

A troop, is a reference to armies, bands of gangs, opposing forces, all of which outnumber you.  Each individual believer is but one person, and the world is far greater.  The forces of religion, philosophies, opinions, attitudes, and on and on, are all in opposition of truth.

To run through that opposition is to continue your daily life through thick and thin, day in and day out, even though everything seems against you.  Doctrine is the stabilizing force.  Doctrine is the driving force.  Doctrine is the mechanism and means of surviving in this world without succumbing to the worlds views.

To jump over the wall, is to escape from entrapment.

Again, the world seeks to entrap you and to keep you from truth and from growth and from your spiritual life.

And in all of these adversities, it is not you that secures the victory, but God, through doctrine.

By means of God, you can live in this world.  By means of God, you are able to escape the onslaughts of the world.  And it is Doctrine in you, that gives you access to God and His grace, and that deliverance.

Of course, you have to learn doctrine before you can use it.
