Isaiah
32:2
2 And a man ['iysh] shall be as an
hiding place [machabe'] from the wind [ruwach], and a covert [cether] from the tempest
[zerem]; as rivers [peleg] of water [mayim] in a dry place [tsiyown], as the shadow [tsel] of a great [kabed] rock [cela`] in a weary [`ayeph] land ['erets]. KJV-Interlinear
2 Each will be like a hiding place from the
wind, a shelter from the storm, like streams of water in a dry place,
like the shade of a great rock in a weary
land. ESV
The man, is a
reference to the King of the previous verse. A strong and wise leader, protects
the rights and liberties and freedoms of the citizens, which establishes peace and
prosperity, which ensures security, and therefore becomes a place of safety, or
a realm of safety, as it were.
The hiding place
is the environment of safety, that protects from the winds of destruction.
The covert, refers
to a shelter, which protects from the storms that swirl around.
Rivers of water in
the desert, or the shadow of the great rock during a bright and hot sunny day,
all of these symbolize protection from the hardships and wariness and stresses
of life.
And this is a good
description of the millennial reign of Jesus Christ, wherein there will be
peace and prosperity, and fairness and protection against all of the former
things of history, which will be no more.
