Isaiah
32:1
1 Behold, a king [melek] shall reign [malak] in righteousness
[tsedeq], and princes [sar] shall rule [sarar] in judgment [mishpat]. KJV-Interlinear
1 Behold, a king will reign in
righteousness, and princes will rule in justice. ESV
After the complete
destruction of evil, that was described in the previous chapter, we now have
the description of the reign of the King and princes, as the rule over a
country should be. Leaders of the nations of the world should take note of this
chapter. Their primary responsibility is to rule not through politics or
self-interest, but through righteousness and justice, in the true sense of
righteousness and justice, and by the discernment of wisdom.
Unfortunately, the
leaders of the world, throughout history, have not done this. And they
certainly do not follow these principles today.
But there will
come a time when rule, as it should be, will be proper and correct and fair.
And that time will not occur until the second advent of Jesus Christ.
The King, of
course refers to Jesus Christ.
The princes,
refers to all government officials, whether elected or appointed, but this can
also refer to leaders or owners or officials of business and enterprise, and
other organizations, as well as the function of families.
Leaders should
take note, but more than likely they will not, and life will simply continue on
as it has for thousands of years, until Christ brings an end to it all, and
establishes His own kingdom, here on earth.
