Psalm 37:7
7 Rest [damam] in the LORD [Y@hovah], and wait patiently [chuwl]
for him: fret [charah] not thyself because of
him who prospereth [tsalach] in his way [derek], because of the man ['iysh]
who bringeth [`asah] wicked devices [m@zimmah] to pass [`asah]. KJV-Interlinear
7
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the
one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! ESV
You silence your own
opinions, and listen and learn His. To
rest in the Lord, ‘damam,’ means to be dumb as in, to be astonished, to stop
what you are doing to the contrary, to forbear, to hold peace, to quiet self, to
rest, to be silent, to keep (put to) silence, be (stand) still, tarry, wait. And in so doing, you halt all carnal
activities and focus on the spiritual functions of life. You live within the Lords plan and sphere as
taught by the Bible.
This is the personal name
for Christ.
To wait patiently means
just that, but to wait based on the substance of knowledge and understanding,
with confidence.
Life is full of testing’s,
trials, troubles and tribulations, and they just keep coming one after another. And often times it is these tests that will
try your soul, your patience and the metal of your spiritual strength. Frustrating as they will be, and endless as
they will seem to be, they will serve only one purpose, which is to challenge
your faith and your perseverance in faith.
You can get upset, or you
can figure your way out of whatever situation there is.
Patience and faith will always
lead to a solution. It may not be what you want, at least initially, but in
hindsight you will learn of its importance in your life.
God does not always
resolve problems immediately. In fact,
He rarely does things immediately when it comes to your individual life. But rest assured that God has a plan for you,
has foreseen all aspects of your life, and His solution will be far better than
anything you will come up with.
Evil will prosper,
because it is the devils world. But
their victories and celebrations and mocking’s and such, are only temporary,
and they will end.
The inconveniences you
suffer will likewise be temporary, while your long term solution will be
eternal.
So, know this, evil will
always lose, despite how things look.
Faith will always win, despite how things look.
