Psalm 37:2
2 For they shall soon [m@herah] be cut down [namal] like
the grass [chatsiyr], and wither [nabel] as the green [yereq] herb [deshe']. KJV-Interlinear
2
For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. ESV
Anyone who does not
pursue their spiritual life, functions by default in the realm of evil. Unfortunately most folks live in this
category. They see the spiritual treasure
across the road, but they do not cross to possess it due to the traffic of life
that interferes with that pursuit. It is
easier to do nothing or to emphasize other matters from the world.
And that is the huge
error of life.
The world is temporary. Its details are temporary. And thus all that is in the world will sooner
or later fade and die and then be no more.
And here is the very
verse to describe the pursuit of worldly things as opposed to the spiritual
things of life.
The description is of a
lush field of grass, growing tall and rich and full of vigor. But along comes a
cutting tool which cuts the grass down.
Once cut down it withers
and dies.
All things in this world
will be cut down and then they will be no more.
Emphasis only on the details
of life, no matter what they are, is a fools pursuit.
Ignoring the treasure of Bible
doctrine, is a fools decision.
The things of the world
will never enrichen you.
The things of this world
will never satisfy you.
The things of this world
will never bring contentment.
The things of this world will
never add personal growth to you.
There is only one thing
that will add to and complete your life, and that is Bible doctrine
