Isaiah
28:25
25 When he hath made plain [shavah] the face [paniym] thereof,
doth he not cast abroad [puwts] the fitches [qetsach], and scatter [zaraq] the
cummin [kammon], and cast [suwm] in the principal [sowrah]
wheat [chittah] and the appointed [caman] barley [s@`orah] and the
rie [kuccemeth] in their place [g@buwlah]? KJV-Interlinear
25 When he has leveled its
surface, does he not scatter dill, sow cumin, and put in wheat in rows and
barley in its proper place, and emmer as the border? ESV
You can look to yourself and the world around you and
see easily that the world is made up of not one single thing, but a wide
variety of things. Look no further than your
dinner table.
You do not eat only one thing throughout your life,
but many things.
And so the farmer prepares the soil differently, for a
variety of crops.
Several crops are mentioned here.
Fitches is a type of herb that is added to breads. Cumin is an herb that is mixed with sauces. Wheat and barley are obvious grain
crops. Emmer is a variety of rye.
The point is that the farmer plants different crops.
He prepares the soil differently for each.
He deals with each crop differently.
Each has a different growing season.
Each requires a different method of harvest.
And so the study continues as it demonstrates that God
likewise deals with each person, differently, according to their makeup and
needs and circumstances and so forth.
No matter who you are, or what you can or cannot do,
or what your circumstances may be, God deals with you accordingly.
In the spiritual life, no one has a disadvantage. The playing field is level for everyone. The rules are fair and obtainable for
everyone.
The objectives of the spiritual life, are available to
everyone. And in the spiritual life, nothing
and no one can prevent you from spiritual success, except yourself of course.
