Psalm 37:5

Psalm 37:5

5 Commit [galal] thy way [derek] unto the LORD [Y@hovah]; trust [batach] also in him; and he shall bring it to pass [`asah].   KJV-Interlinear

5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act.   ESV

To commit yourself to the Lord is more than an emotional feeling, it is a genuine conscious compliance with Gods mandates and expectations, from you. And you cannot know those expectations or even the mandates unless you learn them.  Too many try to substitute their own emotional rational, for Gods rules and they fail miserably in their spiritual life, never figuring it out until it is too late.

Too many try to ignore Gods rules and thus believe they can get by without repercussions.

Too many try to make up their own rules, calling it science or philosophy or their own freedom to choose and decide for themselves.

But that is why God gave us instruction and doctrine, so that we can learn and know and understand the truths of life, and then comply with His will, and thus commit ourselves to His pattern of life.

To commit, means to roll a heavy burden off of ourselves and onto God.  And when we say God, we of course mean Christ.  He is the carrier of burdens and the doer of deeds in our behalf.

Our ability to discover truth is far too great.  That is why we need a lens to look through in order to see truth, and Bible doctrine is that lens, to help us see the realities of life, the real facts, and avoid the theories and invented philosophies.

The term way, means the act of treading, or traveling or going.  It refers to our path in life, our manner in which we live, to our whole course of life, in life, including all of our conduct, plans and intentions.

Trust, means to have confidence, to be bold, to be secure.  Therefore you commit your entire existence and priority to learning and knowing Gods will.  Which is learned, by learning doctrine.  Your boldness comes from the doctrine in your soul, which you learn, which builds up understanding, orientation to life, and therefore confidence, and finally faith, the real spiritual muscle of your essence.

But of course you have to listen or receive instruction in order to learn.  To ignore a daily study, which is your daily meal of food for the soul, is to learn nothing.  But to pursue it, is to learn and know and to succeed without exception.

And he will bring it to pass, means that Christ will bring your life to its proper issue or destiny or completion.

God has a plan for your life.  He presents that plan to you, but you have to learn and grow up in your spiritual life. Doing that, which means nothing more than you learning and using what you learn, then God does all of the rest.  He competes your soul with the doctrine you listen to or read and learn.  He reinforces your understanding and faith through maturity.  You accomplish all of this while in fellowship (confession to God the Father required).

In other words, you do nothing but learn and think, and God does all of the rest.

The Father laid out the plan and process.  The Spirit guides you through the process.  And Christ is the Word, which is inside of you (once you have learned it – namely Christ in you), and you merely think.  And then do of course according to your thinking.

Two of the most important things that you do, are to confess so as to reside in fellowship, and to listen or read from instruction.

And everything that you do while in fellowship is credited to you as spiritual production.  This is the sum total of your worship, or life in Christ.

This guarantees for you a phenomenal destiny and reward for all of eternity.

You will even learn and acquire some degree of peace and a relaxed mental attitude while in this life, despite the rumblings of the world and all of its attempts to derail you.  But your choice to study doctrine and learn, will always override the world.

Through good choices (learning doctrine), the doors of opportunity open wide.

Through bad choices (not learning doctrine), the doors close in your face.

No matter what your status is in this life, with this compliance in doctrine, your success for eternity will be wildly beyond your imagination.  And that is Gods guarantee.  He will bring it to pass.  He will see to it, that it is accomplished.
