Psalm 16:8
8 I have set [shavah] the LORD [Yahovah] always [tamiyd] before me:
because he is at my right hand, [yamiyn] I
shall not be moved. [mowt] KJV-Interlinear
8 I
have set the Lord continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will
not be shaken. NASB
Continually before me,
means that you have come to the conclusion and you agree with and you actually
subscribe to the fact that the Lord, who is Jesus Christ, is the single most
important person in your entire life.
Certainly in your entire existence.
This goes without saying,
but far too many people only pretend, or make a superficial or outward approach
to God, but do not believe it within their own soul.
Once you realize the
importance of life, once you realize that it is God who actually gave you life,
once you realize that there is a life beyond this life, and that life will continue
into eternity and beyond, and that your life is completely dependent on how you
conduct yourself now in this life, then, and perhaps then you will begin to
take God and His word seriously.
At the right hand, is a
phrase that places the most important person to the right. The position of honor, the position of
authority, the position of most importance is traditionally to the right.
And when God is at your right
hand, then that is a figure that symbolically makes God the most important
person in your life. And that is exactly where He should be.
But to honor God means to
obey Him, and to accept His counsel as the best counsel and advice that you can
possibly receive.
God knows everything. God created everything. God knows the best life that you can possibly
ever have, and God made it possible for you to receive that life. Don’t you suppose it would be nice to at
least listen to what God has to say, and then perhaps take His advice and
pursue that better life?
With God at your right,
as far as your attitude goes, with Gods Word being the most important thing in
your life, then and only then, you will not be moved from out of His plan. Your confidence in Him will never be shaken,
or disturbed, or doubted. Your life will
be totally secure.
