Isaiah 3:12

Isaiah 3:12

12 As for my people, [`am] children [`alal] are their oppressors, [nagas] and women ['ishshah] rule [mashal] over them. O my people, [`am] they which lead ['ashar] thee cause thee to err, [ta`ah] and destroy [bala`] the way [derek] of thy paths. ['orach] KJV-Interlinear

12 O My people! Their oppressors are children, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who guide you lead you astray, And confuse the direction of your paths.  NASB

This is a leadership that has collapsed in both responsibility and in integrity.

Children, refers to those who lack education, who lack experience, who are not qualified to lead.  They oppress or exact taxes or burdens.  This is a descriptive phrase that indicates the burdens of government placed on its citizens.

Women rule, does not means women ruling, but means that those who rule lack the manly attributes typically associated with authority. Lacking cojones, is a masculine term that we would use today for male organs.  Another term that would apply would be backbone, or guts, or such terms like that, but this term for male components is the best fit for getting the message across.

Those who lead, describes not only the government, but a wide array of leadership positions, including parenting, teachers, business or organizational leadership.  This includes the entire spectrum of society wherein the leadership common sense has collapsed, and has been replaced with spineless and unqualified people.

The result?  Error, failure, burdens, and the eventual collapse of society.  Destroy here means to swallow up.  Err, is a reference to sin or evil or down the path of failure.

Therefore, to reject doctrine and pursue anything and everything other than doctrine, will bring society to this position of utter and total failure.

This principle applies on a national level, applies historically throughout history, applies especially when the Tribulation occurs and it will be the maximum effect of this failure in society.

And, this principle applies to you and your personal life if you are indifferent toward God, Christ, doctrine and the responsibilities and obligations that God has placed on you and your life.
