Psalm 14:7
7 Oh that [nathan] the salvation [yashuw`ah] of Israel [Yisra'el] were
come out of Zion [Tsiyown]! when the LORD [Yahovah] bringeth back [shuwb] the
captivity [shabuwth] of his people, [`am] Jacob [Ya`aqob] shall
rejoice, [giyl] and Israel [Yisra'el] shall be glad. [samach] KJV-Interlinear
7 Oh,
that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When the Lord restores His
captive people, Jacob will rejoice, Israel will be glad. NASB
Salvation is in the feminine
gender and refers to something received, namely deliverance, health,
prosperity, salvation. Salvation comes
only from God, through the savior, Jesus Christ.
Israel is the name of the
nation of God, and is also the name of the people of God, namely those who have
been saved through salvation. One does not
have to be an Israelite to belong to God, for anyone who is saved, belongs to
God, whether Jew or Gentile.
Zion, is the dwelling
place of God, the place from where God issues His commands and truth. It comes to mean the content of the
scriptures, or Bible doctrine.
Captivity means
concretely, exile, prisoners, captive, separation. The nation of Israel was over run and became
the prisoners of invading armies.
However, this is also symbolic of the state of humanity as being the
captive of sin and death.
Only Gods people can be
led out of captivity, via salvation, via their faith in the Savior. Those who are not Gods people, those who do
not believe, cannot escape out of captivity and thus remain forever separated
from God.
Jacob is the reference to
the line of the Savior, namely Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, which eliminates all other
lines as possible sources for alternate saviors. All religions are false. Only Christianity is valid and is a
relationship with God through Christ.
Religions are all the invention of Satan and promoted and perpetuated by
unbelieving or naïve humanity.
Israel, again is the
reference to the nation of God, whose source is through Jacob, the one and only
line of the Savior, Jesus Christ. There
is no other line, no other nation, no other people of God.
The combination of all of
these terms point together to Jesus Christ, God, and doctrine from the Bible.
There is only one source
of happiness, one source of rejoicing, only one source of gladness. Only one legitimate rejoicing, and gladness
and happiness, and they all come from God, through doctrine which includes the
gospel, and is for everyone who believes in the promised Savior, which we know
as Jesus Christ.
The world cannot provide
any of this.
