Isaiah 2:11

Isaiah 2:11

11 The lofty [gabhuwth] looks [`ayin] of man ['adam] shall be humbled, [shaphel] and the haughtiness [ruwm] of men ['enowsh] shall be bowed down, [shachach] and the LORD [Yahovah] alone shall be exalted [sagab] in that day. [yowm] KJV-Interlinear

11 The proud look of man will be abased, And the loftiness of man will be humbled, And the Lord alone will be exalted in that day. NASB

The proud, the arrogance, the conceit, the over confidence, the attitude of superiority, the attitude of knowing better.  These are the attitudes and characteristics of those who lack truth.

Those who lack truth in their soul are the same as those who disregard God, doctrine, and their daily spiritual life.

They presume that they know more, and are not in need of any instruction or education.

Only man can grow up, live for a mere few decades, and then presume to know more about life than God.  And is it a wonder that a person of perhaps 15 years of age, or 50 years of age, or 100 years of age, can somehow gain vast knowledge to enable him to know more than God?  And God has been around for hardly much more than … eternity.

And even in the face of phenomenal storms or natural disasters or disease or wars, or things that overwhelm humanity, such that the human suffering is staggering, and yet people still hold on to their presumption that they know more.

In that day, has two connotations.

The first is in the day of your impending disaster, punishment, or judgment, wherein God unloads something that overwhelms your life.  It may not be until the day of your death, but hopefully you get hammered sooner than that, just so you have an opportunity to get your personal life’s act together.  But then some folks will not wake up even in that situation.

The second connotation will occur at the Second Advent, when Christ will overwhelm the entire world in the space of just a few moments.  And then the wrath of God will see millions or perhaps billions drop dead right where they stand.  Against that onslaught, there will be no defense.

There is only one true wisdom.
There is only one true understanding.
There is only one true knowledge.

And these come only by means of instruction, which comes only from a daily study of Bible doctrine.  That is the only source information that allows you to see life clearly.

When people pursue foolishness, they are the fools.

When people eventually reach the end of their allotted time on this earth, and if they have rejected truth all along the way, then their eyes will be opened and they will see God in all of His glory and then know probably for the first time, just how stupid they have been. But by then, it will be too late for them to make the changes they needed during their life.

It is far better to study daily and grow up wise, than to ignore doctrine all of your life and not know of your stupidity until it is too late.

The truly wise are blessed with blessings beyond imagination.

The truly stupid are historical filler and nothing more, and probably will get an honorary certificate ‘Number One Dummy’.

Which do you suppose is the better group?
