Psalm 14:2

2 The LORD [Yahovah] looked down [shaqaph] from heaven [shamayim] upon the children [ben] of men, ['adam] to see [ra'ah] if there [yesh] were any that did understand, [sakal] and seek [darash] God. ['elohiym] KJV-Interlinear

2 The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men, To see if there are any who understand, Who seek after God. NASB

When a jeweler examines a piece of jewelry, he places the eye piece over his eye and looks closely to examine every detail of the object he is examining. And this is the ides here.  God leans forward, He examines closely, every detail of the human essence.

This He does to determine the makeup of the person.

Each person is examined.  Each person throughout history is examined closely, in every detail.

There are none that are not examined.  There are none that are overlooked.  There are none that receive only a cursory examination.

All receive an in-depth and thorough, examination.

The children of men, the sons of men, refers to the entire human race.

Human depravity, means immorality, corruption, wickedness, evil, and so forth.

When the jeweler examines the jewelry, he is looking for imperfections, in order to find the perfect jewel.

When God examines the human essence, He is looking for the perfect human, but instead finds well … what do you think God finds?
