Psalm 14:1

1 To the chief Musician, [natsach] A Psalm of David. [David]
The fool [nabal] hath said ['amar] in his heart, [leb] There is no God. ['elohiym] They are corrupt, [shachath] they have done abominable [ta`ab] works, [`aliylah] there is none that doeth [`asah] good. [towb] KJV-Interlinear

1 For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; There is no one who does good. NASB

Fool, ‘nabal,’ refers to one who lacks knowledge and understanding.  Legitimate understanding is truth.  Truth comes only from Bible doctrine.  So whatever your IQ, whether it is 0 or 200, is irrelevant.  Anyone who lacks Bible doctrine in their soul, is classified as a fool.

The heart is a reference to the function of ongoing thought in ones mind or soul.

The fool rejects God in several ways.  He can reject God outright. He can pursue a false god as in another religion or things.  He can ignore God and disregard truth or the realities of life.  He can be indifferent and not care one way or another.  He can invent his own truth and use whatever is convenient for his needs.

Or, and fool can do what so many folks these days do, and that is view God only with respect to what they want out of life, and make God or the concept of God, conform to a life that is convenient to them.

But rejecting God, by whatever means, makes them also reject truth. And when truth is rejected, then only lies remain.  All lies, no matter how small, are a corruption of truth, therefore the life of the one who rejects God is corruption and can get no better.

All works, is a reference to anything and everything that a person does in life.  Their production, in other words.

And all works from the source of corruption, is abominable, repulsive, reprehensible,  monstrous, terrible, offensive.

There is no good.

And that simply means that in corruptible man, in people who live outside of their spiritual life, all unbelievers, all out of fellowship believers, there is no good.  There is no possibility of producing any good.  The spiritually dysfunctional person is incapable of producing good.

Therefore, no matter how ‘good’ you think you are, if you do not live in obedience of Gods mandates and expectations, then you are not only not good, you are in fact reprehensible to the core.

There is good and there is bad.  You are either one or the other.  There is no middle ground.  You cannot mix your opinions in with the truth of the scriptures.  You cannot compromise the scriptures, and pretend that you are doing good in your life.  The Bible alone, defines good, not you.

And unfortunately most believers in this world believe in this fashion.  They believe that they can get through life with sincerity and good intentions, or by means of their own attitude, and that is not how spiritual growth works.
