Psalm 13:6
6 I will sing [shiyr] unto the
LORD, [Yahovah] because he hath dealt
bountifully [gamal] with me. KJV-Interlinear
6 I
will sing to the Lord, Because He has dealt bountifully with me. NASB
To sing, is a reference
to the strolling minstrel. You are just
walking along in your life or in your own thoughts, singing from within your
own soul.
This is a happy attitude,
a comforting mental attitude, a feeling of confidence, inner peace and … well …
happiness.
Bountifully, ‘gamal,’ is
a reference to the perfect ripeness of a harvest of unlimited abundance.
This is not limited to
just tangible things in life, like money or things or possessions. But it
refers to the vastness of everything related to your life, the most significant
of which is your spiritual status.
If you commit yourself to
a daily bible study, that does not mean that life will be all rose petals, but
in fact you will face turmoil and trouble just like everyone else, some
problems more frightening than others.
But you will develop
through your daily study, an inner resource of spiritual muscle and power that
is like no other. You will learn to deal
with life. You will learn to be
properly oriented to life, to people, to our self, and especially to God.
You will develop an inner
relaxed mental attitude, an inner peace, an inner poise that will help you deal
with everything that comes along in your life, be they good things or bad.
The best part probably is
when you realize all of the phenomenal blessings that God has provided for you
(usually in hind sight), that have contributed to the maintenance of your
life. Things that you generally have
taken for granted or have not realized just how much you have been blessed at
the time.
And when you finally
realize just how helpless and worthless and insignificant you are on this
planet earth, a speck of dust on a planet that is insignificant in a vast
universe, and that through all of this, God has made available to you an
inheritance, a future, a meaning and purpose, that are valuable beyond
calculation, then you only begin to realize the magnitude of life and all that
exists around you, and how lucky and blessed you really are.
And that is only a
scratch on the tip of the tip of the tip of the iceberg the size of this
universe and beyond.
Then perhaps within your
heart and soul, the music will begin to swell up.
