2 Timothy 2:7

7 Consider [noeo] what [hos] I say; [lego] and [gar] the Lord [kurios] give [didomi] thee [soi] understanding [sunesis] in [en] all things. [pas] KJV-Interlinear

7 Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.  NASB

Consider, ‘noeo,’ is used only in this verse in the entire bible.  It means to perceive clearly with the mind, with understanding, considering carefully, pondering, mulling over, think hard on these things.

This is not a suggestion, but a very strong warning and more than advice, but clear direction of what you must do.

Therefore the questions are asked and mandates are stated by Paul throughout his writings.
You are to study and learn.  Therefore, do you study and learn?
You are to study daily.  Therefore, do you study daily?
You are to live your life in fellowship.  Therefore, do you confess your sins regularly and thus allowing you to live in fellowship?
You are to approach God with an open mind.  Do you approach God with an open and humble mind?
You have an obligation to God to hear His truth.  Do you even care to hear His truth?
You are to advance in your spiritual life to maturity.  Are you even trying?
You are to advance and function in your spiritual life in accordance with Gods rules.  Do you follow His rules or do you have your own better rules?

There is only one God.

There is only one truth, which is the Bible.

There is only one faith, which is in Christ.

There is only one access to God, through Jesus Christ.

There is only one salvation, by means of faith in Christ.

There is only one spiritual life, by means of the confession process.

There is only one goal, which is spiritual maturity.

There is only one reward, which belongs to the mature and productive believer.

If you answer these questions, ‘Yes, but …’ then you have failed.

Excuses, and explanations, and compromises, and even better ideas are all ingredients for failure in the spiritual life.

God has a lot to offer.  God expects a lot from your compliance in return.
