Psalm 17:10

Psalm 17:10

10 They are inclosed [cagar] in their own fat: [cheleb] with their mouth [peh] they speak [dabar] proudly. [ge'uwth] KJV-Interlinear

10 They have closed their unfeeling heart; With their mouth they speak proudly. NASB

The attitude of the wicked is one of insensitivity to the rights, feelings, circumstances, needs, and sufferings of others.

The wicked refers to anyone who conducts their lives in opposition to God, to truth, to Christ, and especially to the spiritual life and doctrine.

The wicked can include the rich as well as the poor, and has no limitation as to who might qualify as being wicked.

Fat is a reference to prosperity.  A person can be so wrapped up or consumed with their own prosperity that they basically close off all feelings towards anyone else.

However, remember that the worlds prosperity is temporary at best and is always described as vanity or empty or nothingness.

So, whether a person is prosperous by worldly standards, or poor by world standards, makes no difference, for both look to their own circumstances and both look to nothingness.  Prosperity can be real or imagined and therefore becomes irrelevant, because it is the attitude which is determined by the content of the soul, that makes the person and their outlook on life.

A soul empty of truth, means no orientation toward life, no empathy toward others, no feelings that are genuine or pure or honest, as selfishness supersedes humility or even the slightest of concern for others.

The wicked speaks proudly.  They boast great things.  Their mouth can speak only from the content of their soul, and no more. Lies produce lies.  Lies can never produce truth.  Even with great charity giving or benefactor support, there is nothing more than the deceit of a public act covering up the hidden state of corrupt and empty soul.

Again, a soul void of truth has nothing in it but untruth or lies.  A soul full of lies or ruled by lies, is corrupt and therefore not capable of anything genuine as far as good is concerned.  Its only capability is deceit from self-centered acts and thoughts.

The only way out of this situation, repeat, the only way out of this situation, is through the study and learning by instruction, of Bible doctrine.  Apart from doctrine taken into the soul by means of a genuine spiritual growth process, there is no way to avoid a ruined and failed life.
