Isaiah 3:25
25 Thy men [math] shall fall [naphal] by the sword, [chereb] and
thy mighty [gabuwrah] in the war. [milchamah] KJV-Interlinear
25 Your
men will fall by the sword, And your mighty ones in battle. NASB
The word for sword generally
refers to the violence of war, but can apply to many types of violence.
War, ‘milchamah,’ is a
reference to war, but is also a reference to a higher elevation of violence or
instability.
So, when a society drifts
away from truth, they drift not by accident or from being naïve about life, but
do so intentionally. Wickedness is by conscious
choice and therefore is intentional.
The women of society, as
most of these terms have been placed in the feminine gender, represent the
driving vanity of a society filled with arrogance. The men of society receive the symbolic
repercussions of arrogance due to the rejection of truth.
The men die by means of
violence. This violence can be due to
crime or by war.
When a society has gone
spiritually negative, then their state of readiness diminishes just as their
spiritual state has diminished. The
result, failure in life, failure in society and failure in war. The nation suffers.
The men die, and the
women suffer because of their loss. The
men represent the strength of a nation, the work force, the productivity. The women represent the strength of a family,
the glue that raises a family, the desire of the husbands eye, Song of Solomon. But in a dysfunctional society, these things
cease to exist as they were designed.
And loss and suffering are the result.
It is often said that you
do not realize the value of what you had until you lose it. And doctrine is the most valuable possession that
anyone can ever have. Doctrine is the
gold mine of the spiritual life.
Without it, all of life
falls apart, all of society falls apart, and the stench and sounds of loss and
death and mourning are all that remain.
