Psalm 9:4
4 For thou hast maintained [`asah] my right [mishpat] and my cause; [diyn] thou satest [yashab] in the throne [kicce'] judging [shaphat] right. [tsedeq] KJV-Interlinear
4 For Thou hast maintained my just cause; Thou dost sit on the throne judging righteously. NASB
Every individual who has ever lived in this life, began with a potential. Only when that potential is combined with truth (something from God), does it become a reality.
In the very beginning of your life, you were biological life, a physical presence in the womb tied to the life of the mother by means of an umbilical cord. Sever that cord and you sever your biological life.
Upon birth, God adds human life to your biological life and then you become a viable living breathing human being.
However, when you are born into this world, you are born physically alive, but spiritually dead.
Your next potential is eternal life.
When you combine human life with faith (in Christ), then you are born again, and then you acquire your next potential – eternal life. It becomes a reality upon faith in Christ.
But your life does not end there.
Once you have eternal life, your next potential is spiritual growth.
This requires that you combine bible doctrine into your life in a repetitive daily manner, to learn and to grow and to mature spiritually. This is your next reality of spiritual growth.
When you combine activity or the application of that doctrine in your soul, then that leads to the next potential, of spiritual production. Living your life in fellowship, means that all that you do becomes bona-fide spiritual production, of which qualifies you for reward.
When you reach heaven, and when the Rapture occurs, then your spiritual production meets its reality of eternal reward issued by Christ at the Judgment Seat of Christ.
But your life does not end there.
All of history has to end, the universe as we know it must be destroyed, and a new universe created, and then your ultimate completion will occur as you enter into eternity.
These are all of the steps each person faces and lives through in order to become complete in their life.
The first, physical birth, you have no control over. That is Gods grace.
The second is acquired by means of faith, and that work making it possible also, was accomplished by God.
The third and fourth (growth, production, maturity) are also require your cognizant attention, but the doctrine, the growth, the production credit are all accomplished by means of Gods grace.
And by virtue of Gods promise and effort, your rights (God given) and cause (also God given) are secure.
God accomplished all of these rights by means of the Cross, and maintains them all by means of His righteousness and justice.
You can neither earn nor deserve any of them. They all come by means of Gods grace.
You are, however, the only person who can lose them. How do you suppose you could do that?
