Revelation 19:16

Copyright Ó 2011 J. Neely
Revelation 19:16

16 And [kai] he hath [echo] on [epi] his vesture [himation] and [kai] on [epi] his [autos] thigh [meros] a name [onoma] written, [grapho] KING [basileus] OF KINGS, [basileus] AND [kai] LORD [kurios] OF LORDS. [kurios] KJV-Interlinear

16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." NASB

When Jesus was crucified, they placed a name above him, ‘King of the Jews.’

All through the Old Testament and New Testament a name was given to the expected Messiah, King of kings and Lord of lords.

Deut 10:17
17 For the Lord your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, NASB

1 Tim 6:15
15 which He will bring about at the proper time, He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords; NASB

Rev 17:14
14 "These will wage war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful." NASB

And so that there is no confusion about who this is, the Messiah, the Savior, the unique person of the universe, both God and man in the same person, then throughout this book the title is repeated in various forms so as to completely make it clear that the lamb, the sacrifice, the King and Lord of all, is none other and the one and the same, Jesus Christ.

People who oppose Christ try to make His identity ambiguous, saying that the Bible never says anything about Jesus, or does not prove His identity. However, those folks never read or study the Bible, and therefore will never know the truth.

They do this by their own choice of indifference and defiance.  They choose their sin nature and the things of this world that drives them, over the truth.  They choose their lusts and wants over the truth.

They choose to mock and ridicule the future warnings, over the truth. And though we do not stand on the street corner and yell the end is coming, we know in our hearts, that these words are true and that there is going to be a judgment and another life after this one.

Only the fools ignore the future.  Only fools are driven by local politics, by celebrity hype, by their own lustful wants and desires. Only fools are lazy about truth and life.  And they will lose out when the end finally does arrive.

But remember that the end comes for us all sooner or later when Christ removes us from this world at the end of our life span.  So we do not have to wait for the end of the world, in order to end our part in history.

Therefore, regardless of what the prophecies say, no matter what Gods timetable might be for history, we have a responsibility to learn and to grow up in our spiritual life.

For that reason we will be prepared for our judgment, when we face Christ. And for that reason we prepare ourselves for our next life which will far exceed this one.

The title is clear, the facts are clear, you have only to believe them or not.  And the rest of your destiny rides with your beliefs.

There is no other philosophy, or religion or belief or opinion that can match or beat the Bible.  Therefore, to disregard the Bible means placing your life and future reliance on nothing.
