Revelation 19:12

Revelation 19:12

12  [de] His [autos] eyes [ophthalmos] were as [hos] a flame [phlox] of fire, [pur] and [kai] on [epi] his [autos] head [kephale] were many [polus] crowns; [diadema] and he had [echo] a name [onoma] written, [grapho] that [hos] no man [oudeis] knew, [eido] but [ei me] he himself. [autos] KJV-Interlinear

12 And His eyes are a flame of fire, and upon His head are many diadems; and He has a name written upon Him which no one knows except Himself. NASB

His eyes are described as one who possesses resolve in completely finishing a work begun long ago.  Earlier mentioned in Rev 1:14, the eyes represent righteousness and the right to judge, and of one who is able to look deep within the soul and within anything for that matter, and capable of extracting the utmost truth.

When in battle the victor receives the crowns of the defeated.  And here Christ not only possesses crowns and titles of His own in His own right, Son of God, Son of man, Crown Prince, descendant of David, Savior, King of kings, Lord of lords, the Bright Morning Star, and so forth, but when this final battle is over, He will possess all of the crowns and titles that were claimed wrongfully by evil man and Satan.

So indeed, Jesus Christ will be the ultimate victor of history and of all ages, and the sole possessor of all titles.

And His name, is not and cannot be known to the common man, apart from the divine Revelation of truth.

And therein is the barrier that is laid down in front of humanity.  At the Tower of Babel, man tried to build himself up to be equal with God, to rise to Gods level, to be like God.  Satan longed to be like the Most High.

Throughout history man has invented religion after religion in an effort to work their way into heaven, even to the point of rewarding themselves for their own efforts, like so many of the awards programs we see on television these days.

And yet the point of life is missed altogether, wherein people try to make their life out of this earth, when in fact this earth has a short life itself, when compared to eternity.

Apart from doctrine, no one can know of a savior. Apart from the gospel no one can be saved.  Apart from knowledge and understanding, no one can grow up and acquire maturity.

Apart from the Word of God, no one can know anything about life or God, or anything for that matter.

And unfortunately there is a huge population out there, that is ignorant of truth, and therefore they get life all mixed up.  The word for knew, ‘eido,’ means perception or the learning and understanding process.

You cannot learn truth on your own, you have to be taught.  There is no such thing as a self taught or self made person.  We all have to have been taught by someone, from birth to whatever age we are now.

For some the learning is embraced.  For others the learning is ignored or rejected, or redefined to whatever is more convenient to their liking.  And when truth is disregarded, then the sin nature takes the lead in influencing ones thoughts and beliefs.

When the sin nature drives your life, then all of your ideas and beliefs will be false and therefore leading you to your own doom.  And that is how the world, in the end, will meet Christ.  Much to their surprise and dismay.
