Isaiah 1:6

Copyright Ó 2011 J. Neely
Isaiah 1:6

6 From the sole [kaph] of the foot [regel] even unto the head [ro'sh] there is no soundness [mathom] in it; but wounds, [petsa`] and bruises, [chabbuwrah] and putrifying [tariy] sores: [makkah] they have not been closed, [zuwr] neither bound up, [chabash] neither mollified [rakak] with ointment. [shemen] KJV-Interlinear

6 From the sole of the foot even to the head There is nothing sound in it, Only bruises, welts, and raw wounds, Not pressed out or bandaged, Nor softened with oil. NASB

When you do not study your Bible doctrine regularly, then your soul misfires, it malfunctions, it gets sick. Bible doctrine is the true energy that feeds the soul, it is the source of health and it maintains a healthy soul.

We cannot see the soul, but we can see the body and when we see an unhealthy body then we can get an idea of how an unhealthy soul resembles an unhealthy body, or rather is resembled by an unhealthy body.

When you take away Gods Word from your life, then you are feeding your soul unhealthy foods. When your soul feeds on unhealthy foods alone, then it becomes sick.

Just as a sick and unhealthy person becomes vulnerable to disease and far worse things, so the soul becomes vulnerable to disease, spiritual disease.

The whole soul is diseased, and then infected, then open sores begin to show up. Smell accompanies the disease, and person becomes repulsive. Ugly scars and scar tissue replaces what should otherwise be soft pleasant skin, but is now ugly and smelly and repulsive.

The whole persons life has become untracked.  And this imagery is a picture of the spiritual life, a sick spiritual life.  Remember that information is the food of the mind, and spiritual information is the healthy food.  All other worldly information (anything in opposition to truth) is unhealthy food.

The feet, is a reference to a daily life in the sin nature lane. So what they do and what they think, their whole life, has and is rotted to the core. There is no attempt to bandage the wounds. No attempt to rub oils of Bible doctrine on the sores to help them heal and make them eventually go away.

A negative person is like this in their soul. They may appear very pleasant on the outside, that portion which you and I can see, but God looks into the soul and sees the rot and He smells its stench (sin, evil, corruption, wickedness, human good, etc.).

When people ignore God in their life, for whatever reason, they will, with certainty, become like this description of a rotted diseased person in their soul, and it will eventually overflow into their physical being. When the soul is sick, the body will soon follow.

And so is the state of the Israelites in the time of Isaiah. They were negative and thus sick in their souls. This will affect their health, their privacy, their economy, their freedoms, their life.

When you go negative towards God, you may coast through life, for a while, but sooner or later, your soul will lose everything, and on your way down, you'll be miserable, in a way that you cannot imagine.

Unsoundness, wounds, sores and such, describe an unhealthy state, and a dying state.

In terms of your physical life, when you were born, the clock started ticking down, on your life in this world.  It is during these years that you have the opportunity to prepare for your next life.

In this life, you had no say, prior to your birth, as to what your life would be like.

As for the next life, you have every opportunity, through doctrine, to prepare yourself for a far better life.

Back in Isaiah’s day, the people ignored the spiritual side of their life and thus their souls became as unhealthy and diseased bodies.  You should not imitate their example.
