Isaiah
28:22
22 Now therefore be ye not mockers [luwts], lest your bands [mowcer]
be made strong [chazaq]: for I have heard [shama`] from the Lord ['Adonay] GOD
[Y@hovih] of hosts [tsaba'] a consumption [kalah], even
determined [charats] upon the whole earth ['erets]. KJV-Interlinear
22 Now therefore do not scoff, lest
your bonds be made strong; for I have heard a decree of destruction from the
Lord GOD of hosts against the whole land. ESV
Far too often, people do not take seriously, the
spiritual aspects of life. They
over-rate themselves, and miss entirely the reason why that God placed them
here in this world. They play their little games of pretense, or they are simply
not interested. But whatever their
reason for not genuinely recognizing or pursuing their spiritual
responsibilities, Isaiah makes their danger very clear.
Be warned that you need to listen and learn. For most people do not listen, and therefore,
do not learn, and therefore become by default, mockers not only of scripture
but of life and reality. And their
mocking is by indifference or presumption of their own invented knowledge.
And the warning is simply this.
God has decreed destruction, not only for the
individual, not only for some given region or country, but for the entire
world.
And while people play their little wishful games such
as for love and world peace, and for everyone to just get along, those things will
never happen. Not learning doctrine
means that you will never understand the seriousness of life or of history or where
it is all heading or even why.
You likewise lose out on the completion of your own
self, and that is a huge loss to stupidity.
The decree is not just a possibility, nor even
something that might be averted. It is
coming with certainty.
But knowing that there is an end of the world
scenario, does not mean that you do nothing.
While most will ignore these truths and become a part of why the world
will end, even if indirectly, the very few, and perhaps you will be one of the
few, will get with a daily study and grow up in their spiritual life, and, as a
result get in line for the phenomenal blessings that God has also decreed for
the spiritually mature. Which blessings
are likewise certain.
But you have to decide, day after day, whether you
will be the wise or the fool, whether you will dedicate yourself to learning
Bible doctrine, or continue to play the pretend games that so many do.
