Isaiah
28:16
16 Therefore thus saith ['amar] the Lord ['Adonay] GOD [Y@hovih], Behold, I lay [yacad] in
Zion [Tsiyown] for a foundation a stone ['eben], a tried [bochan] stone ['eben], a precious [yaqar] corner [pinnah] stone, a sure [yacad]
foundation [muwcad]: he that believeth ['aman] shall not make haste [chuwsh]. KJV-Interlinear
16 therefore thus says the Lord
GOD, “Behold, I am the one who has laid as a foundation in Zion, a stone, a
tested stone, a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation: ‘Whoever believes
will not be in haste.’ ESV
The Messiah is here said to be the foundation,
unmovable, and whosoever believes in that foundation, namely the Messiah, will
be saved. Ah, but you say, it does not
say saved. Ah, but I say, yes it does.
The personal name for God, identifies the Son, who is
God and man and the Messiah promised to come.
It is He who is the foundation, the rock, the corner
stone which is placed on a solid footing, Zion, unmovable, by even the greatest
of storms and catastrophes.
In Zion, is the vast mountain of truth, which we have
access to through Bible doctrine, while we are in fellowship. That fellowship is obtained when we confess
our sins to God the Father.
Doctrine, and the Son, and Christ, are one and the
same.
It is a tried stone, as metal is tried in fire. The metal is not untested, not unreliable,
not unknown, but is tried and tested and is certain to withstand any and all
adversities and tests.
It is a precious stone. It is the best of the best of
the best of stones, and only the best stone which has been compared and selected,
is used as the corner stone upon which the building is constructed.
And therefore, he that believes, means when a person
builds a home, and resides within it, and then a major storm comes along, then
are they afraid, do they tremble, do they make haste, as this verse states and
run away for something better for something that will be safer during the
storm?
No. They are not
afraid, they do not make haste, they believe in their house. They believe in the stone upon which their
house is built. They know that the
foundation is tight and secure and unmovable, and that they are secure and safe
as long as they reside within and upon that house built upon that foundation. They remain.
That is faith.
And therefore, the corner stone is the Son of God, is
the person born of a virgin in a miraculous pregnancy, is a man, and we know
Him as Jesus Christ.
And upon that person is constructed the faith, on
Zion, which is Bible doctrine, that will extend into all eternity.
