Romans 3:28
28 Therefore [oun] we conclude [logizomai] that a man [anthropos] is
justified [dikaioo] by faith [pistis] without [choris] the deeds [ergon] of the law [nomos]. KJV-Interlinear
28 For
we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law. ESV
And so Paul concludes with the principle that faith is
the means of justification, not works.
A man, any man, any woman, any person, anyone, who
wishes to be saved, has but one way of acquiring it.
Works, anything that is meritorious, anything that indicates
credit to the person, any effort by which a person thinks that he or she can
acquire Gods acceptance, is false and wrong.
Nothing can be done to improve on the work of Christ
on the Cross. Nothing can be added to
the work of Christ on the Cross. Nothing
was overlooked by Christ or God.
Everything was accounted for and dealt with in its entirety.
The Law is the position and summary, of mans works and
mans efforts. The Law, makes it very
clear that no person is capable of keeping the Law. All who come before the Law, which is
everyone, fail by the Law, which means that all have failed, for all have
sinned.
One sin is more than enough to document failure, and
each and every person sins many times throughout their life. Arrogance is the foundation of all sins. And, everyone is more than guilty of that. To deny it, is in itself, a confession of
guilt.
Salvation is the result of believing in Christ. Salvation is the acknowledgement of His work
and of His identity. Salvation by faith is a non-meritorious thought. We gain no credit by thinking.
Salvation comes only by believing in Jesus Christ.
