28:5
5 In that day [yowm] shall the
LORD [Y@hovah] of hosts [tsaba'] be for a crown [`atarah] of
glory [ts@biy], and for a diadem [ts@phiyrah] of beauty [tiph'arah], unto
the residue [sh@'ar] of his people [`am], KJV-Interlinear
5 In that day the LORD of hosts
will be a crown of glory, and a diadem of beauty, to the remnant of his people,
ESV
Isaiah has two subjects. The first deals with the First Advent of the
Savior. The second deals with the Second
Advent of the Lord, who is one and the same as the Savior.
And Isaiah uses his own contemporary time as the pattern
for comparison and symbolizing the two prophetic future times.
Isaiah has noted that Israel, which is the northern kingdom
of Samaria, will be destroyed. He also
notes that the southern kingdom, made up of Judah and Benjamin, will also be
destroyed. But out of the southern
kingdom, a better kingdom will arise.
These events portray the ends times, where again both
segments or, namely all of Israel which we know will exist in the Tribulation,
will also be destroyed.
Israel exists in the Tribulation therefore it had to
come into existence prior to the Tribulation, in order to exist. And of course it did back in 1948.
But the Israel of today, is not the Israel of the Kingdom
of God of the future, nor is it Gods people, per se. That is why, it will be destroyed.
However, out of the people that will live during the
Tribulation, which remember will begin with unbelievers only, worldwide,
therefore, there will be those, both Jew and Gentile, who will believe, who
will learn and grow up to maturity, and who will survive to be the remnant that
will survive and who will be delivered by Christ at the Second Advent.
Oh, and by the way, how will they grow up? Well that is explained in the next several
verses coming up.
They will learn by way of their daily study, which will
have to be conducted under the most horrendous of conditions in all of human
history. Something that you might note,
the next time you consider complaining about whatever it is that you complain
about.
In that day, carries a dual meaning.
It applies to the end times, but it also applies to
anyone whose eyes are opened and they begin to see truth and reality for what
it really is.
The crown of glory is similar to the crowns described
for believers, and which in this case, refers to the crown of the spiritual life,
of growing up, of helping others in their growth in learning and growing
up. And this is why we know that those
believers in the Tribulation, who will survive, will do so because they do not give
up, do not back off, and do not quit in their faith.
They will listen, learn and help others do the
same. And in that, their celebration,
will be in Christ, for the word of God is the written Christ. And then they will actually see Him as well.
That of course will be the height of their
celebration.
The diadem of beauty is the ultimate victory of
victories. The ultimate crown of
sovereignty over all that is. The
Tribulation will have ended, and mans rule, will never again spoil life or
history.
