Isaiah
28:10
10 For precept [tsav] must be upon
precept [tsav], precept [tsav] upon precept [tsav]; line [qav] upon line [qav], line [qav] upon line [qav]; here a
little [ze`eyr], and there a little [ze`eyr]: KJV-Interlinear
10 For it is precept upon
precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little,
there a little.” ESV
God teaches by repetition. And yet people resent being taught the same
principle over and over, again and again.
And yet, most, even the vast majority still do not learn, because they
do not listen, do not concentrate, do not focus, do not care to be taught.
And so, just as a school teacher teaches young pupils
by repetition, which by the way is the best way to learn, the pupils still do not
learn, because they are indifferent.
The subject is simple.
The learning process is simple to follow. There is nothing difficult
about the material, but so few get it.
And the result?
Negative volition yields failure, and failure yields disaster, and
disaster yields loss. And in the case of
the spiritual life, the loss is great loss because it is a loss for all of
eternity.
If there ever was a verse to memorize, this would be
the verse. One should not only memorize
it, but incorporate it in their daily study routine. And then day after day, listen and listen and
listen, as the material is repeated, and perhaps sooner or later, something
might actually be learned. And, the
spiritual growth process just might begin to advance. Which is that case, some actual spiritual benefit
will be gained.
