Romans 3:16

16 Destruction [suntrimma] and [kai] misery [talaiporia] are in [en] their [autos] ways [hodos]:   KJV-Interlinear

16 in their paths are ruin and misery,  ESV

The ways of humanity, continues in this description of misery and destruction.  These verses serve as reminders as well as an education in the depravity of man, versus the righteousness and goodness of God.

God is truth.  Man is not truth.  God is light.  Man is without light.

It is impossible for man to live a life of perfection or direction, when man lacks the required information of truth.

Without truth, there is only speculation, invention, and the false conclusions that result from the absence of truth in life.

Therefore, ignore God, ignore Christ, ignore doctrine and what is left?  Destruction and misery.

Without truth and the knowledge of truth, your destiny is not good and will never be good.

There is only one way to have a good destiny, and that comes only through the knowledge of doctrine, which is the foundation of truth.

Now know this.  Learning scripture is not enough.  Satan can memorize scripture, and most likely knows more scripture than any of us, but it does him no good and is of no value to him.

Doctrine has to be incorporated into the soul by means of learning while in fellowship, which comes by means of confession, in which the Holy Spirit acts as the conduit for the flow of doctrine into and through the human spirit, and thus transferred into the soul through belief.

That forms the foundation and building blocks for the edification of the soul, or the temple, palace, fortress, etc. within the soul.

Your usage of doctrine within your daily life is the production, or the finishing touches of that constructed complex within your soul.

That in turn produces value, intrinsic value, in you, as an integral part of you, which lasts forever.

Therefore, without doctrine you have nothing and will never have anything.  With doctrine you can have everything and more.  But of course you have to realize this, first, and then pursue it.
