Psalm 35:7

Psalm 35:7

7 For without cause [chinnam] have they hid [taman] for me their net [resheth] in a pit [shachath], which without cause [chinnam] they have digged [chaphar] for my soul [nephesh].   KJV-Interlinear

7 For without cause they hid their net for me; without cause they dug a pit for my life.   ESV

Evil lays traps and nets in order to catch and trap and destroy others, for no legitimate reason whatsoever.

Anyone who is anti-God, is also anti-truth.

And lacking truth, they lack objectivity.  They are ruled by their emotions and whims and their lusts.

And in so pursuing their lusts, they want that which they are not entitled to, seek to control that which they have no right to control, covet that which does not and never will belong to them.

They are ruthless, selfish, self-centered, and evil to the core.  But of course they do not see themselves in that way.

And yet they lay traps, dig pits, set nets over the pits so as to conceal them, and along comes the prey, not seeing the trap, not seeing the net, and suddenly steps into the net, falling into the pit, trapped and without warning are consumed and destroyed.

And that is the world around us, and that is the threat that constantly awaits the uninformed.

The uninformed include those who do not learn, and consequently have no understanding of life.

But the trap is for those who are informed as well.  The world is not prejudiced against the wise.

Anyone who lives in this world, has to deal with the various functions of this world, and life can come at you from all directions.  Even the most informed and the most careful, can get caught up in the tangled web of the world.  You can be cheated, your investments can go bad, your decisions and choices can fall flat.

You have no guarantee of total success in this world.  And knowing this, at least you have a little heads up as to the traps that are in front of you in life.

The point is, that the world is a never ending series of traps, designed to keep you from success, to keep you from doctrine, to distract you away from the important things of life, to frustrate you at every turn, to make you give up, to make sure that you ultimately fail.

Bible doctrine is the one and only defense that you have against failure.
