Psalm 34:6

This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his
troubles. ESV
Referring to himself,
David also refers to his miserable condition.
His condition was not one
of poor health, but of living a life as an outcast and a fugitive due to Saul’s
constant pursuit.
David and all that were
with him, were hunted constantly. They had few friends in the region and few
who would not hesitate to report their whereabouts.
So, the world, as it
were, was totally against him. Only God
was there to offer support.
But, know this for
certain, that God only offers support to those who are obedient to His mandates.
If you look to God, but
you mostly disregard His mandates, then your help will come from the world. And since the world offers little or no help,
then a person who is non-compliant toward Gods rules, does not have much to
look to, as far as help is concerned.
But David and all that
were with him, looked to God constantly.
They kept the scriptures as far as they had them, but more than that,
they kept the scriptures that they knew in their heads, in the forefront of
their thoughts.
Doctrine on paper is of no
use until it is transferred into the soul through the learning process.
And as food for the body
is eaten daily, so too, doctrine which is food for the soul, should also be
studied and learned daily, and thus inculcated into the soul.
Therefore, with doctrine
in the soul, then Gods help is always there.
Without doctrine, you
have nothing at all.
