Isaiah 24:4

Isaiah 24:4

4 The earth ['erets] mourneth ['abal] and fadeth away [nabel], the world [tebel] languisheth ['amal] and fadeth away [nabel], the haughty [marowm] people [`am] of the earth ['erets] do languish ['amal].   KJV-Interlinear

4 The earth mourns and withers; the world languishes and withers; the highest people of the earth languish.    ESV

The words for languish and fade refer to the condition of plants that have been cut down or have not had access to water.  They fade, they lose their strength, they die slowly.

And that is the ultimate condition of the world, in the final days of history.

Once the Rapture occurs, the world will begin a seven year decline, wherein the whole world and all that makes it up, whether people, industry, plant or animal life, will all decline and fade under the extreme pressure of mans evil.  In some cases the decline will be swift.  In many cases the decline will be slow and steady and gradual with no hope for recovery.  At least not under mans direction.

And along with it all, the arrogance and wisdom and attitude of humanity, which will be the cause for all of mans own trouble.  The last but not the least, will fail and fall in the bitter end.

The haughty people, generally refers to the high and mighty, the elite those in power or those who are celebrities.  But haughty also refers to those who have an anti-God or anti-truth attitude, having rejected it and replaced it with their high ideals for life, and that attitude crosses all classes and ranks of society.

This means that society on the whole will languish as though it were cut down, as though its life water was cut totally off.

This is not an instant event, but one that will occur over those last seven years as society will decline and continue to decline and never reverse itself.

There is only one conclusion and that will be total destruction for humanity.  And were it not for the Second Advent, then all of humanity would disappear from existence.
