understanding, [biynah] the spirit [ruwach] of counsel [`etsah] and
might, [gabuwrah] the spirit [ruwach] of knowledge [da`ath] and

2 And the
Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the

Only believers in Jesus
Christ have an opportunity to have a relationship with God through Christ.
Only believers who are in
fellowship have a functioning spiritual environment in which to have a
spiritual life.
Prior to ones conception,
ones biological life is a potential. Conception may or may not occur. The human
egg has to be fertilized before biological life for the fetus can begin.
Prior to birth, ones
human life is a potential. You have to have human life imputed into your soul
before you become a living human being. God determines the creation and timing
of your human life.
Prior to ones salvation,
your life with God is a potential. You have to believe in Christ before you
become saved. Hummm, does some of this sound familiar???
Prior to growing up
spiritually, your spiritual growth is a potential, you have to live inside of
Gods class room (fellowship) before the spiritual growth process can be
effective in your life.
Prior to ones spiritual
growth, your spiritual life is a potential. You have to be willing to listen
and willing to learn before you can begin to grow. That is your perception, or
your initial perception of Bible doctrine.
Prior to ones spiritual
growth, you have to come to an understanding of what you have learned through
your perception of Bible doctrine.
That is where we are in
today's study.
Understanding, 'biynah,'
is your working knowledge or your understanding of the meaning of what it is
you have learned. When you first learned the alphabet, the symbols were just
that. Until you learned to spell and then to communicate in writing, all you
had was your limited verbal vocabulary. Just knowing the a, b, c's does not
make you a good communicator, or poet, or letter writer. Likewise it takes
practice in reading before you increase your vocabulary and come to an understanding
of the things you read.
This is where repetition
in the learning process and the application of what you learn, to your daily
life, comes into play.
You read or hear and then
you practice what you have learned. Learning is a cycle of receiving instruction,
applying that instruction to some practical application and then getting
feedback on how you did. In school you hear the lecture, you practice the
problems, you take a test, and then you find out how you did. In a good
educational setting, then you repeat this all over again and again, until you
learn the subject being taught.
Sports, or music, or
sewing are good examples of this principle of teaching. You hear or see the
lesson, you practice it over and over, again and again, and sooner or later you
become proficient at it. You work better, you play better, you perform better.
What started out as a
slow copying of an action, becomes faster and smoother and then sooner or later
you insert your own innovation into the task at hand. You are better in sports,
or music, or you make up your own patterns in clothing and such.
This is the same in Bible
doctrine. You learn how to pray. 'Father I pray to you alone.' Then you begin
to learn what to pray for. 'Father I want things.' Then as you grow up you discover
that there are others in the world who need more than you do. 'Father I pray
for them.' Then you learn to place yourself in last place and you care for
others first. 'Father I pray for my family and for others. Take care of them
first and then see to me when you have the time.'
As your learning
continues through your daily perception (spirit number two), and as you apply
that learning to your daily life and begin to understand how it all fits
together (spirit number three), then you begin to lay a foundation of
understanding of how life works, or how the world works, and how God puts it
all together.
Spirit 1 - fellowship. Confession
of sins demanded by God in order for you to first be obedient to His rules and
second for you to accept responsibility for your life, and third for you to
humble yourself and cancel out your arrogance.
Spirit 2 - perception
through a daily study program. This is your daily meal of Bible doctrine for
your soul. If you do not eat properly, you do not grow up nor will you stay
healthy (spiritually healthy).
Spirit 3 - understanding
of what you have learned, by means of application of what you have learned, to
your daily life. You pray, you give, you support, you are obedient to Gods
commands and so forth. This is the early stage of maturing, of being
responsible, of being accountable for all that you think and do.
