Psalm 24:10

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Psalm 24:10

10 Who is this King [melek] of glory [kabowd]? The LORD [Yahovah] of hosts, [tsaba'] he is the King [melek] of glory. [kabowd] Selah. [celah] KJV-Interlinear

10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah. NASB

The Lord of Hosts is well identified in the Old Testament.  He is the second person of the Trinity, designated as the Son of God, the Lord of Hosts, the Messiah, the Savior, the perfect sacrifice, God who became man and so forth.

The gates have long been symbolized as the ascension of the Christ into heaven when the Ark of the Covenant in which He dwelled, was taken into the temple and set inside the inner room called the Holy of Holies and there rested until the actual day of the Cross wherein the huge main curtain was torn and thus removing the infinite separation between God and man by means of the work of Christ on the cross that made salvation a reality, 1 Sam 1:11; 2 Sam 5:10; 6:2; 7:18, 26, 27, 2 Sam 6:17.

And in this psalm, the second choir again asks the question of the first choir, ‘Who is this king?’

And the first choir again replies, He is the Lord, singular, the King, again singular.

And of hosts, which applies to all of creation.

And of glory, which is to say there is only one glory.  That glory belongs to Christ and to no one else.

The opening of the gates is typically symbolized as the ascension of Christ into heaven which occurred forty days after the resurrection, which if you count the Sunday as the first day, then forty days later would fall on a Thursday, which is ten days prior to the Feast of Pentecost, on a Sunday, which was fifty days after the resurrection, counting the resurrection day.

On that day of ascension, Jesus Christ led all captives, which were all of the Old Testament believers who were in Paradise (now an empty place), which was one of the four compartments in the underworld, in the greatest victory parade, from earth into heaven.  There He was seated at the right hand of the Father, and glorified, and there remains until the next huge increment of Gods plan is prepared for its turn in history.  That next big event is the Rapture.

The Feast of Pentecost is traditionally viewed as the official beginning of our current dispensation, the Church Age, wherein the Holy Spirit was poured out on the believers back then, and becomes an integral part of every new believer’s salvation when they believe in Christ.

The Rapture is the last event of our dispensation. That has yet to occur.  If the cross occurred in 33 A.D., then we are now 1,980 years along in our dispensation, which is the longest dispensation for human history to date.

So, the gates of heaven were opened to receive the King of kings, the Lord of lords.  The gates of the soul are to be opened to receive salvation and thereafter doctrine for spiritual growth.  The gates of Paradise were opened to let out the captives in Paradise from the Old Testament, freeing them into heaven.

For all of creation, for all generations, for all people, the gates that have prevented life and eternity, are now opened and freely available to all, if only you choose to go through and/or allow Christ to enter in, and that entry is through your faith for salvation and through your daily study and learning, for your spiritual growth.

Selah, is the pause in the activity, the rest which demonstrates peace, the music plays on, music of Gods grace which continues on regardless of your decisions or actions.

God does all of the work.  God made all of the provision.  God sustains all of life.  And you benefit through grace as a gift from Him to you, if you are smart enough to see it and then pursue it.

Psalm 24:9

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Psalm 24:9

9 Lift up [nasa'] your heads, [ro'sh] O ye gates; [sha`ar] even lift them up, [nasa'] ye everlasting [`owlam] doors; [pethach] and the King [melek] of glory [kabowd] shall come in. [bow'] KJV-Interlinear

9 Lift up your heads, O gates, And lift them up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! NASB

The call and the command come yet again.  A repeat of verse seven.

Open up your gates.  Open up your doors. Open up your eyes and ears.  Open up your hearts and minds.

Lift up your heads and look and listen and see and understand.

Let in that which has not been allowed in before.

Let in the King of salvation.  Let in the King of the detailed word which is the source of spiritual power.

Your attitude of having a closed attitude is nothing new, but comes from a pattern established in ancient times and has existed throughout history.

Ancient cities opened up their gates to let in wealthy princes who brought with them trading goods and things that were not available within the city.  The visitors brought with them priceless articles and riches and wealth and prosperity to those within the city.

And so it is with each individual.  Who is at the gates calling to be let in?  Jesus Christ, the everlasting King of glory.

There is only one glory, magnificence, splendor, brilliance, and so forth, and that glory does not belong to you or anyone or anything, except God, and Jesus Christ is God.

Jesus Christ owns the world, verse one,
made it a habitable place to live, verse two,
lives in a place that is unreachable by man, verse three,
demands perfection from those who seek Him in fellowship, verse four,
is the provider of blessing, verse five,
and applies that blessing and status to all who comply with His mandates and divine plan, verse six.

Therefore open up and let in the King, who is the source and perpetuation of all blessing and prosperity and wealth and happiness.  For, by rejecting Him is to reject those very things.

But in faith, and only through faith, can the gates and doors of the soul be opened to let in the one and only source of eternal blessing.

Galatians 3:9

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Galatians 3:9

9 So then [hoste] they which be of [ek] faith [pistis] are blessed [eulogeo] with [sun] faithful [pistos] Abraham. [Abraam] KJV-Interlinear

9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer. NASB

Blessed, ‘eulogeo,’ means a benediction, to prosper, to be blessed, to be approved, to be sanctioned, to be holy, sacred, hollowed, consecrated.

And who does this approval?  God does it.

No one can sanctify themselves.  Only God can bless.  Only God can make holy.  Only God can approve such that the person can become separated from the chains of evil and this world, and from eternal condemnation.

Faith, ‘pistis,’ means credence, moral conviction, credibility, belief, reliance upon, constancy in the system of truth, assurance, fidelity, faith.

Two disclosures are made herein regarding how blessings come to any particular person, and thus how they are blessed and who is blessed.

Is everyone blessed?  No.

Who initiates blessing?  God.

How does one qualify for blessing?  By means of faith.

What is the precedent? Abraham, as described in this example, within these verses.

And as we shall see in the next verses, when faith is absent, then works are all that remain.  And works is not a conduit of blessing, but of condemnation.

Faith and faith alone is the means of blessing, which God alone bestows.

What is blessing?  It is the sum total of Gods favor, as ascribed or credited and granted or arranged and approved on an individual.

Beginning with salvation and Gods saving grace, then faith separates the individual from eternal condemnation, and transfers them to eternal life.

God is life.  God is eternal life.  God holds this universe and all that is, together.  To align oneself with God, then makes His universe available to you for life with Him.  To reject God is to reject Gods universe and all that is, and places you in a vacuum of non-existence, of non-substance, of non-life.

Who among any of us has the power or even the authority to control our own universe?  And that should be obvious, none of us can control anything, much less the universe.  Only fools believe that there is no author and manager of the universe.  Only fools believe that there is an all-natural element to life and existence.  Only fools believe that man can somehow elevate himself to the high plane of God and somehow achieve self-existence.

How many people from past and distant generations do you know, that are still alive and running their life and their environment around them?  None.

On this earth, past generations were able to walk or ride to distant lands, board ships and sail to distant new worlds.  But now this planet is running out of frontiers.  In the 1500’s people flocked to the new world by the tens of thousands within a few short decades and they continue that movement even today by the millions.  Their destinations had phenomenal resources with which to make their new lives work.

There is nowhere else in the universe that people can move to in huge numbers, where there are ready made and abundant resources for life.  Not the bottom of the ocean for there you would need housing constructed, air, pressure relief facilities.  Not the moon or Mars, no air, no food, no resources, no means to get around easily, and certainly not for millions of people.

And then we have the life span over which none of us has any control.  When our time is up, it is up and we cannot prevent our leaving this life.

So, what control do people have over life, this world, or the universe?  None.

God controls everything, and to reject God as unbelievers do, is also rejecting ones own existence, it is rejecting continuity, order, direction and so forth.  It is choosing oblivion and chaos not only in ones environment but within oneself.  Rejecting God is a choice for ones own condemnation to disaster.

And choosing works or ones own effort and self-definition for salvation, is a choice against God.

Faith is non-meritorious, giving you no credit, not rights, no effort or participation in Gods work.

God alone set out the plan.  God alone executed that plan.  God alone accomplishes everything that man cannot accomplish.  God alone saves, and faith is the means of that salvation and the sustaining of life after salvation.

Faith is the means of salvation, but do not for a single minute think that once saved you have no further obligations in life.  Salvation is only the beginning of your spiritual new birth.  After salvation you must grow up and that requires a daily study, a daily diet or meal of doctrine, and adherence and obedience to Gods principles and rules for life.  And that will occupy and is mandatory for your life every day of your life, for the rest of your life.

And faith again, is the mechanism for accomplishing your spiritual growth to maturity, your spiritual objective and goal and completion for life.  Without it you will not be complete, but missing out on the biggest components of the greatest plan that God has for your own personal life, forever.

Galatians 3:8

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Galatians 3:8

8 And [de] the scripture, [graphe] foreseeing [proeido] that [hoti] God [theos] would justify [dikaioo] the heathen [ethnos] through [ek] faith, [pistis] preached before the gospel [proeuaggelizomai] unto Abraham, [Abraam] saying, [hoti] In [en] thee [soi] shall [eneulogeo] all [pas] nations [ethnos] be blessed. [eneulogeo] KJV-Interlinear

8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "All the nations shall be blessed in you." NASB

In many passages, there are recorded conversations, visions, dreams and so forth wherein God communicated to various persons.

In Gen. 15, God spoke with Abraham.  In Rom. 9:17, it is stated that the scripture spoke of Pharaoh, ‘For this purpose did I raise you up.’

In these and many other passages, the term scripture is in reference to the word of God in whatever form it was in at that time.

Moses wrote all of the first five books long after Abraham lived and certainly after the Israelites had left Egypt.  The scriptures as we know them, did not exist in Abraham’s day or even in Pharaoh’s day, but certainly and even in Job’s day there was communication and information handed down from parents to children from the time of Adam and Eve, which constituted the communications of scripture from God.

Thus, the term scripture here is a reference to the collective body of information that has been available throughout history.  Scripture is truth.  And whether written, spoken or just out there like gravity or the stars, scripture is the sum total of truth that is in existence, whether you know it or not.

And here, the specific scripture or truth was present in Abrahams time, stating clearly that all peoples can and will be saved by means of faith.

Adam was saved by means of faith.  Enoch was saved by means of faith.  Noah was saved by means of faith, and certainly Abraham was saved in that same manner.  All of these and many more lived prior to Moses and the actual recording of the Law, which Law so many traditional Jews looked to as their written authority for substantiating their position in salvation by works.

And yet for generations from the time of Adam, many millions were saved by faith without the existence of a written Law, and certainly without the existence of the practice of circumcision.  Abraham was not circumcised when he was born.  He wasn’t circumcised until he was one-hundred years old.  And that is enough to bring any grown man to tears, but it has nothing to do with salvation.

In Abraham all would be saved.  And that applies to two concepts.

First it applies to his method of being saved, namely faith, such that all who believe as he did, will be saved.  So Abraham’s faith is the documented record of salvation which applies to all of humanity.

And second, it applies to the line of the Messiah, down from Abraham, through Isaac and Jacob and so forth, which effectively eliminates all other candidates or want-to-be’s for messiahship.

But here our topic is works, and here our topic is the pattern of salvation by means of faith and by no other means.

You cannot work for your justification. You cannot earn your justification.  And you certainly do not deserve your justification.  It is the sole work of Christ, and the sole gift from God, through grace.

Isaiah 11:2h

Copyright Ó 2013 J. Neely
Isaiah 11:2hues

2 And the spirit [ruwach] of the LORD [Yahovah] shall rest [nuwach] upon him, the spirit [ruwach] of wisdom [chokmah] and understanding, [biynah] the spirit [ruwach] of counsel [`etsah] and might, [gabuwrah] the spirit [ruwach] of knowledge [da`ath] and of the fear [yir'ah] of the LORD; [Yahovah] KJV-Interlinear

2 And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord. NASB

Only believers in Jesus Christ have an opportunity to have a relationship with God through Him (Jesus Christ).

Only believers who are in fellowship, by means of confession, have a functioning spiritual environment in which to have a spiritual life.

Only believers have a functional supernatural mechanism for advancing them in their spiritual lives.

The functional supernatural mechanism which is available to every believer to carry them from anonymity to spiritual victory, is the same mechanism which carried Jesus Christ through His First Advent

Spirit - the power and force of the blast of wind from God in His heaven, a force more powerful than any in this universe, yet undetectable, unseen and unfelt, but very real.

Spirit 1 - fellowship. The mandatory state for the spiritual life to function within.

Spirit 2 - perception. The mandatory daily study activity for learning.

Spirit 3 - understanding. The working knowledge and application to your daily life.

Spirit 4 - counsel. Acknowledging that God is the ultimate authority and guide in life.

Spirit 5 - might. The strength, poise, and stabilizing power of ones soul.

Spirit 6 - wisdom. Clarity of thought, understanding, discernment and awareness.

Spirit 7 - fear. This is the pinnacle of the spiritual realm. The believer is aware of Gods plan and His policies and the vastness of Gods wisdom such that it boggles his mind and is beyond his comprehension.

The believer in Christ sees man in his only true state of total nonsense, depravity, and stupidity. The believer who has advanced to spiritual maturity stands in awe of God and all that He represents. The believer stands in a different awe with respect to just how stupid and blind mankind can be given all of the evidence and communication which God provides for mans edification, which is rejected by man simply because of arrogance.

The opinions of man and the world have little if any impact on the mature believer since the mature believer knows that all of mans knowledge and political opinions serve nothing but to perpetuate controversy while no real solutions come from them.

Mankind in his natural state is nothing more than the dust of the earth. Fit for nothing more than to hold the imprints of worm tracks. Only with Bible doctrine in the soul and its proper application to ones life can man be elevated (by God) higher than the angels and into tremendous positions of prosperity and wealth far beyond anything the world in all of its combined history will ever see.

Men with great cunning will come and go. Nations with great ideas will come and go. Empires with great power will come and go. None of them will make the permanent history books which are recorded in heaven.

When all of history is finished and the worlds great and small have vanished into a forgotten state, then only the mature believers, who have advanced to the highest levels in their spiritual lives, will have the greatest blessings, promotions, titles, privileges, honors, authority, wealth, wisdom and more, even beyond ones ability to imagine (Rev. 1-3).

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.  NASB

In all that we think or do, it is Gods plan and priority which makes His mandates first.  In Gods system the motivational virtue toward God is first and orientation toward a relationship with mankind is established. Gods purpose sets out Christ as first. Gods policy sets out His grace as first. In Gods objective for our spiritual life, our persistent study, establishes our momentum as first. And ultimately in Gods authority, it is His doctrine which must be first in our lives.

Achievement of spiritual maturity gives the believer the maximum stability and independence in life. Your thoughts and decisions come from a position of strength (Bible doctrine in the soul) rather than from a position of weakness (human wisdom in the soul).

The mature believer has achieved all three of the fundamental objectives described in the Bible, 'Christ formed in you,' Gal. 4:19, 'Christ at home in you,' Eph. 3:16-17, and 'Christ glorified in you,' Phil. 1:20-21.

The lesson of the seven spirits teaches us that these same powers sustained Jesus Christ while He was here on earth in His First Advent, and that these same powers and guidelines are available to each believer to sustain and to empower the believer to help him through anything that the world can throw at him, and to ultimately allow the believer to observe history as it unfolds right in front of him, knowing full well that Jesus Christ is revealing each and every historical event toward one ultimate end.

For our Church Age, that is to bring every possible person into the knowledge of Jesus Christ such that they will become believers for the Royal Family until its number is completed, and simultaneously to position the nations and powers into the array which Gods desires them to be in for the beginning of the Tribulation, immediately following the Rapture, when the Rapture finally occurs.

These then are the seven spirits of the spiritual life, which identify the means and mechanism of spiritual growth, which when seen in whole, are the most elementary and simplest of methods of living and advancing in ones life, but unfortunately over which the vast majority of humanity stumble for lack of seeing them due to the blindness caused by indifference, apathy, and ultimately arrogance.

Spirit 1 - fellowship. Confession of sins demanded by God in order for you to first be obedient to His rules and second for you to accept responsibility for your life, and third for you to humble yourself and cancel out your arrogance.

Spirit 2 - perception through a daily study program. This is your daily meal of Bible doctrine for your soul. If you do not eat properly, you do not grow up nor will you stay healthy (spiritually healthy).

Spirit 3 - understanding of what you have learned, by means of application, of what you have learned, to your daily life. You pray, you give, you support, you are obedient to Gods commands and so forth. This is the early stage of maturing, of being responsible, of being accountable for all that you think and do.

Spirit 4 is the counsel stage of ones spiritual life. As you have learned through a daily study plan then you begin to set a pattern for your life by means of the principles which Gods teaches you through Bible doctrine.  Doctrine guides you through your day to day living.

Spirit 5 - might. Your life is more stable. You have a greater and more relaxed mental attitude. You have greater poise and can deal with problems in a much easier and organized fashion. Things in life do not bother you as much as they did in the past. You have less stress because your confidence is growing, in God and His provision for your situation.

Spirit 6 - wisdom.  The solidifying of the foundation of your soul and the substance upon which faith is constructed and strengthened.  Your eyes are opened and life actually makes sense.  Your eyes focus not on your immediate life now, but toward heaven and the great eternity that lies beyond.

Spirit 7 - fear. This is the pinnacle of the spiritual realm. The believer is aware of Gods plan and His policies and the vastness of Gods wisdom such that it boggles his mind and is beyond his comprehension.

So few of humanity achieve this advanced level of their life. Although it is available and achievable by and for anyone and everyone, the sin nature and the worlds enticements and ones personal opinions and attitudes just get in the way and the phenomenal future that God has prepared for each of us, is not attained.

Resolve to dedicate your efforts to achieve the ultimate growth and completeness possible for your own personal life.

There are only two alternatives available to you in life, Gods option or something else of your choosing.

And all of the options which you choose that exclude God will lead you to total failure in life.

Only Gods option will lead to success and victory in life, now and forever.

The seven spirits are aptly named for they describe the breathing, the inhale and exhale, of the moment by moment spiritual life that is so easy to follow, and yet is the biggest obstacle when arrogance runs ones life.

God has a plan.  It incorporates everything great and small for each individual and for all of world history in its entirety.

God has a plan for your life which began with your physical birth and entrance into life, and continues with your rebirth in your spiritual life when you believed in Christ. That plan is designed to advance you to a point of completion that is not achievable in this world.

You just have to decide to want it, really want it, and then set aside your opinions and ideas, and look to Gods mandates and principles and rules for functioning within and advancing in your spiritual life.  And then pursuing Gods plan as God has designed it.
