Psalm 18:48
48 He delivereth [palat] me from mine enemies: ['oyeb] yea, thou liftest me up [ruwm] above
those that rise up [quwm] against me: thou hast

48 He
delivers me from my enemies; Surely Thou dost lift me above those who rise up
against me; Thou dost rescue me from the violent man. NASB
David wrote this psalm in
praise of what God did for him, quite literally, on the battlefield.
However, these words
apply to all of us, just as they did to David, but in a different sense.
We certainly know that in
life there are people who will take advantage of us every time that the
opportunity arises. Bureaucracies will easily overpower the individual. People can gossip you all the way out of
town. Politics in both government or in the
office, seeks to advance itself at the expense of others.
You do not always have to
be on a military battlefield in order to have enemies that would rise up
against you. Battlefields come in many
forms in life.
And, just to be clear,
you will not always win in this temporal world.
Many a person throughout history
has been subjected to atrocities while evil seemingly triumphed, for a time.
Certainly in the
Tribulation, the numbers of martyrs will be in the millions or even billions,
depending on when that future era occurs.
That means the evil components of society will be celebrating over a
victory they do not really have.
All evil is classified as
violent. Even if it begins with a little
white lie, or seemingly innocent infraction, it begins a domino tumbling
process that always ends up in violence of some sort.
That is why there is no
such thing as a good sin, or an acceptable sin.
Only a fool will believe that.
The growing Christian
believer always wins, because the believer always ends up in heaven eventually.
And especially the spiritually mature believer wins because they are vindicated
within their vast rewards they will receive for eternity, as a result of their
spiritual life and growth and production in this life.
As you live in this world
in this life, Gods deliverance will never be complete until He calls you home,
and out of this life. You may see little
victories from time to time, but more likely you will see many disappointments
or setbacks, especially if you are advancing in your spiritual life. A great deal of growth is accomplished
through adversity.
The world, and all who
would mock you, or presume their superiority in whatever manner, due to the
standards of this world, are in fact going to lose in a huge way. They just will not know it until it is too
late for them.
