Ephesians 5:16
16 Redeeming the time,
because the days are evil.
KJV-Interlinear
16
making the most of your time, because the days are evil. NASB
Someone once said, that
the Devils best argument is to make you believe that you have all the time in
the world so you can put off until a later time, your interests in God and
faith. And that his second best argument
is that you have many choices and can use any number of options in order to
have a good life.
And this verse makes it
very clear, that you do not have a moment to waste in your life, because the
days of your life are numbered, and the world around you is evil, full of
temptations and diversions so as to keep you from the life that God has
designed for you.
God, long ago, in
eternity past, defined and designed a plan that incorporated every aspect,
every moment of your life, from the moment of your birth all the way into
eternity and beyond.
Gods plan for your life
is to first be saved through faith in Christ, and thus have eternal life.
Second, to live in a
perfect environment through confession.
Third, to have doctrine
and the means of learning truth.
Fourth, to have the means
of growing up in your spiritual life.
Fifth, to have the means
of completing your life.
Sixth, to have the means
of being productive within your spiritual life.
Seventh, to be prepared
for and to receive an eternal reward based on a successful spiritual
evaluation.
Eighth, to meet all of
Gods expectations and provisions such that your life will be complete to the maximum
for all of eternity.
The value of your spiritual
life is worth more than you can even begin to imagine.
But most folks live their
life for the moment of this world and ignore the real issues for eternity. And that is why Paul states that the days are
evil. You are faced constantly with
choices and priorities between this world and Gods plan.
And when you choose to
ignore Gods mandates, choose against a daily study, choose against living in
your fellowship sphere, and choose among the many distractions of this world,
either through temptation or attitude, then you are wasting the valuable time
that God has given you for the preparation and completion of your life.
God gave to each one of
us there capital items for investment – volition, doctrine, and time.
Volition is your choices you
make every moment of every day.
Doctrine is the source
information that facilitates your spiritual growth and the completion of the
construction of your soul and therefore your life.
Time is the life that God
has given to you on this earth, for accomplishing your spiritual plan.
God does all of the work,
but you have to invest wisely, or not.
